Investigating the correlation of hip circumference to cardiovascular disease and type‐2 diabetes using Mendelian randomization
Published 2025-02-01“…Results Results indicated a positive causal relationship between HC and CVD (IVW: P = 1.84e‐07, OR: 1.37, 95% CI: 1.22–1.54) as well as type 2 diabetes mellitus (IVW: P = 0.04, OR: 1.62, 95% CI: 1.02–2.56), independent of BMI. However, HC after BMI adjustment showed no significant causal relationship with CVD (IVW: P = 0.05, OR: 1.09, 95% CI: 1.00–1.19) and exhibited a negative association with type 2 diabetes mellitus (IVW: P = 0.00, OR: 0.76, 95% CI: 0.66–0.88), suggesting a protective effect against type 2 diabetes mellitus. …”

Initial use of supplementary oxygen for trauma patients: a systematic review
Published 2018-07-01“…Objective This systematic review aimed to identify and describe the evidence for supplementary oxygen for spontaneously breathing trauma patients, and for high (0.60–0.90) versus low (0.30–0.50) inspiratory oxygen fraction (FiO2) for intubated trauma patients in the initial phase of treatment. Methods Several databases were systematically searched in September 2017 for studies fulfilling the following criteria: trauma patients (Population); supplementary oxygen/high FiO2 (Intervention) versus no supplementary oxygen/low FiO2 (Control) for spontaneously breathing or intubated trauma patients, respectively, in the initial phase of treatment; mortality, complications, days on mechanical ventilation and/or length of stay (LOS) in hospital/intensive care unit (ICU) (Outcomes); prospective interventional trials (Study design). Two independent reviewers screened and identified studies and extracted data from included studies. Results 6142 citations were screened with an inter-rater reliability (Cohen’s kappa) of 0.88. …”

Predictive value of epicardial fat thickness for left ventricular reverse remodeling after radiofrequency ablation in atrial fibrillation patients with left ventricular hypertrophy
Published 2025-01-01“…[Results] A total of 28 patients who did not achieve reverse remodeling were included in the control group, and 22 patients who achieved reverse remodeling were included in the reverse remodeling group. There were significant differences in age, atrial fibrillation classification, duration of atrial fibrillation, left atrial diameter (LAD), left ventricular end-diastolic diameter, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter index (LVEDI), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), platelet distribution width(PDW), red cell distribution width, fibrinogen to albumin ratio (FAR) and EFT between the two groups (P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that EFT, LAD, LVEDI, NLR, hsCRP, PDW and FAR were independent factors for left ventricular reverse remodeling(P<0.05).The cut-off value of EFT for predicting postoperative left ventricular reverse remodeling was 0.848, sensitivity was 95.5%, specificity was 89.3%, and AUC was 0.937 (95% CI: 0.868-0.983). …”

Effect of frailty on the short-term functional outcome of elderly patients with traumatic brain injury
Published 2025-01-01“…[Results] Among the 127 elderly patients with traumatic brain injury, 48 cases had frailty.A total of 34 patients died during hospitalization, and 63 patients had poor neurological outcome at 3 months follow-up.Compared with the non-frailty group, the frailty group was older, had a higher mortality rate during hospitalization, and had a higher proportion of poor neurological prognosis at 3 months after onset (P<0.05).Multivariate logistics regression analysis shows that age >75 years old, higher Glasgow coma score and clinical frailty score ≥5 were independent risk factors for poor neurological prognosis in elderly patients with traumatic brain injury at 3 months onset. The results of the ROC curve indicated that the area under the curve of the Glasgow coma score predicting poor neurological prognosis in elderly patients with traumatic brain injury at 3 months after onset was 0.643 (95%CI:0.532-0.727), which was increased to 0.874 (95%CI:0.782-0.931) when indicators of patient age, Glasgow coma score and clinical frailty score were applied. …”

Deltacoronavirus HKU11, HKU13, PDCoV (HKU15) and HKU17 spike pseudoviruses enter avian DF-1 cells via clathrin-mediated endocytosis in a Rab5-, Rab7- and pH-dependent manner
Published 2025-01-01“…Pseudovirus entry was suppressed by means of pharmacological inhibitors, dominant-negative mutants, and siRNAs targeting various cellular proteins and signalling molecules, suggesting that PDCoV and avian DCoV pseudovirus entry into DF-1 cells depends on clathrin, dynamin-2, cathepsins and a low-pH environment but is independent of caveolae and macropinocytosis. Furthermore, we found that DCoV pseudovirus entry was linked to Rab5- and Rab7-dependent pathways. …”
