“Nay ’tis in grain, I warrant it hold colour”: The Materiality of Black in Middleton’s Black Book by Chantal SCHÜTZ

    Published 2015-06-01
“…This paper maps the material instantiations of blackness as a satirical tool in Middleton’s discourse on city vices as voiced by Lucifer and his consorts in The Black Book. Taking up Gary Taylor’s approach of the self-reflexive pamphlet, it examines the ways Middleton integrates the stuff of blackness into the very form and substance of his text.…”

Lamb Waves in a Functionally Graded Composite Plate with Nonintegral Power Function Volume Fractions by Xiaoshan Cao, Zhen Qu, Junping Shi, Yan Ru

    Published 2015-01-01
“…We employ variable substitution for theoretical derivations to solve the ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients using the Taylor series. The numerical results reveal that the dispersion properties in some regions are changed by the graded property, the phase velocity varies in a nonlinear manner with the gradient coefficient, nondispersion frequency exists in the first mode, and the set of cutoff frequencies is a union of two series of approximate arithmetic progressions. …”

A Moving Source Localization Method for Distributed Passive Sensor Using TDOA and FDOA Measurements by Zhixin Liu, Yongjun Zhao, Dexiu Hu, Chengcheng Liu

    Published 2016-01-01
“…Both theoretical analysis and simulations show that the theoretical bias always meets the actual bias when the noise level is small, and the proposed method can reduce the bias effectively while keeping the same root mean square error (RMSE) with the original MLE and Taylor-series method. Meanwhile, it is less sensitive to the initial guess and attains the CRLB under Gaussian TDOA and FDOA noise at a moderate noise level before the thresholding effect occurs.…”

Novel method for angle estimating of bistatic MIMO radar by Zhi-dong ZHENG, Jian-yun ZHANG, Jin-you QU, Xiu-qing LIN

    Published 2012-12-01
“…The extended signal subspace was constructed to reduce the computation load of former data processing of bistatic MIMO radar.According to the characteristic of this signal subspace, the polynomial rooting-spatial filtering algorithm was proposed to estimate the direction of arrivals (DOA) and direction of departure (DOD).It avoided the conventional two-dimensional spectrum searching and the estimated parameters were paired automatically without extra pairing operation.Furthermore,Cramer-Rao bounds (CRB) for DOA and DOD estimation were derived under multi-target and single target in bistatic MIMO radar. The results illustrate that when spatial sector is filt the higher order of the Taylor series expansion, the better angular accuracy of targets can be derived. The proposed algorithm can get good estimation performance even when the DODs of targets are close to each other. And the polynomial rooting-spatial filtering algorithm can perform better than ESPRIT algorithm in resolution in SNR,and both of them are close to the CRB in the high SNR.…”
