Designing Buildings and Building Environments for Greater Resilience against the Encroachment of Seasonal Forest Fires by Adekunle Olubowale Mofolasayo

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Rather than waiting for firefighters to come and help extinguish the fire in residential communities, the design of our buildings can be such that it would not only put a major focus on the automatic deployment of the water sprinkler effect for the interior sections of the buildings, but the improved designs for residential buildings should be such that automatic water sprinklers are available to cover all the exterior portions of buildings for a pre-determined length of time, to mitigate the effect of seasonal forest fires. …”

Effects of asiaticoside on the model of gestational diabetes mellitus in HTR-8/svneo cells via PI3K/AKT pathway by Zhilan Hu, Ya Long, Xiangyue Li, Zhiqin Jia, Mingyan Wang, Xuemei Huang, Xiaolan Yu

    Published 2024-12-01
“…The mRNA levels of PI3K, AKT2, mTORC1, and GLUT4 in PI3K/AKT signalling pathway were measured by RT-PCR, and the protein expressions of these signalling molecules were monitored by western blot. Results AS showed a promotion effect on the cell proliferation rate of HTR-8/Svneo cells, and 80 μmol/L AS with a treatment time of 48 h had no cytotoxicity. The cell proliferation rate, migration rate, mRNA levels and protein expressions of PI3K, AKT2, mTORC1, and GLUT4 in the HG group were significantly lower than those in the control group, which were significantly increased in the HG + AS group (p < 0.05).Conclusions AS can facilitate the cell proliferation and migration in the cell model of GDM, and might play a role in GDM treatment via PI3K/AKT pathway.…”

    Published 2020-09-01
“…The approach to rehabilitation is broader, it’s primary goal is to return the patient to his previous social status, rather than clinical recovery. At the same time, the main difficulty in distinguishing the mentioned above definitions is related to the fact that the method underlying the medical service is actually licensed, but the same tools and methods can be used both in treatment and medical rehabilitation. …”

Do The Facts of Voting Rights Support Chief Justice Roberts’s Opinion in Shelby County? by Morgan Kousser

    Published 2016-01-01
“…Holder that the problems of 2013 were much less grave than the “pervasive . . . flagrant . . . widespread . . . rampant” voting discrimination of 1965 and that the coverage formula was outmoded because “today’s statistics tell an entirely different story.”1Neither the Chief Justice nor any scholars or civil rights proponents or opponents have systematically examined the evidence on the entire pattern of proven voting rights violations over time and space. Was the Chief Justice correct in asserting that such violations no longer tracked the coverage scheme in Section 4 of the Act -- that, as he put it, the relationship of the formula to problems of vote dilution was purely “fortuitous?” …”
