Suppression of renal crystal formation, inflammation, and fibrosis by blocking oncostatin M receptor β signaling
Published 2024-11-01“…The anti-OSMRβ antibody abrogated OSM-induced phosphorylation of STAT3 and expression of crystal-binding molecules (Opn, Anxa1, Anxa2) and inflammation/fibrosis-associated molecules (Tnfa, Tgfb, Col1a2) in renal tubular epithelial cells and fibroblasts. In glyoxylate-injected mice, a mouse model of renal crystal formation, there was significant suppression of crystal deposits and expression of crystal-binding molecules (Opn, Anxa1, Anxa2), a tubular injury marker (Kim-1), and inflammation/fibrosis-associated molecules (Tnfa, Il1b, Mcp-1, Tgfb, Col1a2) in the kidneys of the anti-OSMRβ antibody-treated mice, compared with those in vehicle- or isotype control antibody-treated mice. …”

Maternal Parvovirus B19 Infection Causing First-Trimester Increased Nuchal Translucency and Fetal Hydrops
Published 2019-01-01“…Parvovirus B19 is a single-stranded DNA virus that is cytotoxic to erythroid progenitor cells, causing inhibition of erythropoiesis. While maternal disease is usually mild, fetal infection can result in spontaneous abortion, aplastic anemia, nonimmune fetal hydrops, and fetal demise. …”

Creation of transgenic mice susceptible to coronaviruses: a platform for studying viral pathogenesis and testing vaccines
Published 2022-07-01“…It has been established that coronavirus infection (SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV2) occurs through the viral protein S interaction with the lung epithelium – angiotensin-converting enzyme receptor 2 (ACE2) – due to which the virus enters the cells. The most attractive model for studying the development of these diseases is a laboratory mouse, which, however, is resistant to coronavirus infection. …”

Galectin-1-Dependent Mitochondria Apoptosis Plays an Essential Role in the Potential Protein Targets of DBDCT-Induced Hepatotoxicity as Revealed by Quantitative Proteomic Analyses
Published 2022-01-01“…As a result of these modulations, caspase cascades were finally activated, which executed apoptosis in HL7702 liver cells. Correspondingly, NAC (inhibitor of ROS), PDTC (inhibitor of NF-κB), EGF (ERK1/2 activator), and OTX008 (inhibitor of Gal-1) were found to reverse and abolish the DBDCT-associated cytotoxicity partially. …”

Investigation of the healing effects of Afyon Province hot spring waters on experimentally-induced fatty liver in mice
Published 2020-09-01“…According to different publications mineral water from hot springs has a beneficial effect on liver cells. In this regard, an investigation was performed with the aim to assess the effectiveness of hot spring water from the Süreyya I spring (Afyonkarahisar province) in treatment of fatty liver disease. 50 one-day-old albino mice with an average body weight of 29.6 g were selected for the experiment. …”

Inhibition of hippocampal interleukin-6 receptor-evoked signalling normalises long-term potentiation in dystrophin-deficient mdx mice
Published 2025-02-01“…Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), an X-linked neuromuscular disorder, characterised by progressive immobility, chronic inflammation and premature death, is caused by the loss of the mechano-transducing signalling molecule, dystrophin. In non-contracting cells, such as neurons, dystrophin is likely to have a functional role in synaptic plasticity, anchoring post-synaptic receptors. …”
