Experimental Study on Mechanical Properties of Daciteunder the Unloading Condition of a HydropowerStation by LI Wancai, DENG Hui, DING Zhonghui, LU Bifeng, HAO Hao, LI Anrun, SU Hang

    Published 2020-01-01
“…In order to study the mechanical properties of dacite under the unloading condition, thispaper selects the dacite in the lower dam of a hydropower station in southwest China as the researchobject, obtains the stress-strain curve under the unloading condition by triaxial unloading test ofthe sample at natural state, and analyzes and discusses the deformation and strengthcharacteristics of the dacite under the unloading condition. The test results show that under theunloading condition, the lateral dilatancy of dacite appears; under the same confining pressure, the confining pressure difference and elastic modulus of the dacite decrease with the increase ofthe unloading rate, which can provide a reference for the engineering practice with dacite.…”

Three-Dimensional Finite Element Numerical Simulation of Cave Block of Underground Dam in Karst Area by DA Mingchang, JIAO Jie, SU Zhengyang

    Published 2020-01-01
“…There are many problems in safety management and risk assessment of underground reservoir project in karst area because of the special structure and environment.Taking a typical karst underground reservoir project in southwest China as the research object, this paper establishes the three-dimensional finite element model of its cave block to analyze the variation law of its temperature field, stress field and displacement field under different working conditions. The results show that:the overall deformation of the cave block was small, and the stress level of the cave block was generally within the safe range under various working conditions. There was stress concentration at the local position between the cave block and bedrock, but the overall stress distribution met the requirements of the code. The research results serve as a reference for safety evaluation and risk analysis of underground reservoir projects in karst areas.…”

Estimation and Study on the Potential of Irrawaddy River Waterway by LI Wenjie, LIU Dan, YANG Shengfa, YANG Wei, LONG Hao

    Published 2020-01-01
“…The Irrawaddy River is an important waterway that opens the direct route from southwestChina to the Indian Ocean. Aiming at the development of the Irrawaddy River waterway, thispaper deduces the theoretical formula for the waterway depth based on the hydraulics, river dynamicsand available estimation methods for waterway potential, and estimates the theoretical depth of thewaterway that can be achieved in different sections of the Irrawaddy River by the measured data andempirical parameters. The results show that under the condition of 98% navigation guarantee rate ofthe Irrawaddy River, the minimum waterway development depth from Bhamo to Mandalay, Mandalay toProme, and Prome to Yangon is 2.14 m, 2.58 m and 2.75 m respectively, and the annual navigationcapacity is more than 1.8 billion tons. The research results can provide some theoretical andtechnical support for the development of the Irrawaddy River waterway.…”
