“There she was, looking at me with those eyes of her”: l’animal mis en regard dans le théâtre d’Edward Albee by Valentine Vasak

    Published 2016-07-01
“…In the plays under study, these encounters, be they confrontational or lustful, enable the male characters to assert their predatory masculinity by “catching sight” of these figures of the other. Indeed, as the often feminized beasts remain offstage, or are even sacrificed in a gruesome reenactment of the tragic goat song, the audience is led to question the boundaries between species, speeches, gender and genre.…”

Analysis of UAV wireless network coverage and handover performance by Bonan YIN, Mugen PENG, Chenxi LIU

    Published 2020-11-01
“…For the characteristics of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV),such as high mobility, adjustable height, and high probability of line-of-sight channels, which introduced multiple challenges to the design and deployment of current and future wireless network, and the networking performance of UAV was the focus and difficult issues in the industry, the network coverage and handoff performance of heterogeneous UAV wireless network was analyzed, which provided insights into UAV wireless networking.Specifically, considering the outdated channel state information introduced by the UAV’s mobility, analytical expressions of handover probability, handover error probability, and coverage probability for heterogeneous UAV wireless network were derived by utilizing the tools from stochastic geometry. In addition, the impacts of the UAV’s mobility, height,as well as the density of terrestrial base stations on the aforementioned performance metrics were investigated. It shows that the outdated channel state information caused handover error, which increases first and then decreases with the increase of UAV’s moving speed and density of base stations.Meanwhile, the impact of UAV’s flight height on coverage probability is more significant than that of moving speed.…”

    Published 2016-12-01
“…As contemporary critics have shown, John Ruskin’s lifelong interest in geology not only provided him with a unique understanding of the mountain as a painting subject but also allowed him to develop an idiosyncratic theory of perception where movement and salience prevail – a theory he then applied to his often memorable prose. At first sight, salience is one feature of landscape that one can easily visually apprehend but much less easily account for in prose writing. …”
