Differences in pronotum shape in Phlaeothripinae thrips (Thysanoptera) of quarantine importance by Allan H. Smith-Pardo

    Published 2024-08-01
“…To do that, a multitude of digital images and illustrations of different genera of phytophagous phlaeothripine thrips were examined to compare their pronotum shape for genera that contain more than 20 species, which are known to feed on plants, as well as those that have been intercepted at U.S. ports of entry coming from other countries. Statistically significant differences in the pronotum shape were found between most of the examined genera, making GMM a viable tool for genus-level identification of adults of most species-rich, phytophagous genera of Phlaeothripinae.…”

How Large Is the Risk of Stagflation in the Eurozone? by Markus Demary, Michael Hüther

    Published 2022-02-01
“…This is evident in oil and gas markets, but also in international trade, which has been thrown out of step by bottlenecks at Asian ports. This situation creates a trade-off for the European Central Bank, because a more expansionary monetary policy cannot mitigate the supply bottlenecks and supply-side restrictions, while a more restrictive monetary policy would slow down the economic recovery. …”

Ship Load Response Test and Structural Bearing Capacity Assessment of High-Piled Wharfs by WANG Chengqiang, LIU Qiang, GAO Junjun, CHEN Zhonghua

    Published 2020-01-01
“…Ship loads are most frequently exerted on wharf structures, which will inevitably cause different degrees of impact on the wharfs during berthing process of ships. In order to study the influence of the loads, this paper carries out field tests on the high-piled wharf in old ports of Lianyungang with different types of ship berthing loads, and re-checks and calculates the bearing capacity of the wharf according to relevant standards. It was found that structural response of the wharf to ship impacts is related with ship tonnage and berthing speed. In addition, the fender absorbing energy and ship collision force can be deduced according to fitting formulas.According to the results of field tests and re-checking calculation, the bearing capacity of pile foundation can meet the current functional requirements.…”
