Five-year Variations in Air Pollutant Emissions with Ultra-low Emission Retrofits in a 660 MW Coal-fired Power Unit by Zhiyong Li, Zhuangzhuang Ren, Chengjing Cao, Chen Liu, Zhen Zhai, Jixiang Liu, Ziyi Zhan, Changtao Huang, Lan Chen, Hongdan Yuan

    Published 2023-07-01
“…It was particularly pointed out that emissions increased again in 2017 though they still met the ULE standards, indicating the comprehensive consideration should be taken between the emission reductions and high cost of the ULE policy. What’s more, the ULE transformation weaken the correlation between pollutant emissions (in mg m−3) and corresponding removal efficiencies of control devices, evidencing the pollutant emissions received complex impacts from coal components, emission control technologies and devices, and so on. …”

Integrated Impacts of Urban Spatial Form on Thermal Environment and Zonal Regulation under the Perspective of Spatial Heterogeneity by Yan Jinlong, Yin Chaohui, An Zihao, Zhang Simin, Wen Qian, Chen Weiqiang

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Finally, according to the MGWR regression coefficients of each indicator, the main urban area of Wuhan was divided into four types of impact zones, and the intensity and direction of the impact of indicators in different impact zones changed, which confirms the necessity of a zoning policy. 3D buildings form the dominant zone and the BD strong dominant zone are suggested to adjust the urban building form as the main goal, the percentage of water area and BD co-dominant zones are suggested to optimize the urban blue-green space as the main regulation goal to improve its cooling efficiency, and the integrated transition zone is suggested to synergistically optimize the 2D/3D urban spatial form. …”

CitySEIRCast: an agent-based city digital twin for pandemic analysis and simulation by Shakir Bilal, Wajdi Zaatour, Yilian Alonso Otano, Arindam Saha, Ken Newcomb, Soo Kim, Jun Kim, Raveena Ginjala, Derek Groen, Edwin Michael

    Published 2024-12-01
“…Developing such computational systems must also overcome the cold-start problem related to the inevitable scarce early data and extant knowledge regarding a novel pathogen’s transmissibility and virulence, while addressing changing population behavior and policy options as a pandemic evolves. Here, we describe how we have coupled advances in the construction of digital or virtual models of real-world cities with an agile, modular, agent-based model of viral transmission and data from navigation and social media interactions, to overcome these challenges in order to provide a new simulation tool, CitySEIRCast, that can model viral spread at the sub-national level. …”

    Published 2022-07-01
“…Women aged between 40 and 45 years (aOR=5.18; 95% CI 3.15 to 8.52), those with higher education (aOR=2.13; 95% CI 1.57 to 2.88), those who had ever heard of cervical cancer (aOR=32.74; 95% CI 20.02 to 53.55), read newspaper or magazine at least once a week (aOR=2.11; 95% CI 1.83 to 2.44), listened to the radio at least once a week (aOR=1.35; 95% CI1.18 to 1.52) and those in households with richest wealth index (aOR=1.55; 95% CI 1.20 to 2.00) had significantly higher odds of screening for cervical cancer compared to their counterparts. Conclusion Women who are able to make autonomous healthcare decisions and those who practice shared decision making are more likely to uptake cervical cancer screening. Therefore, policy interventions should focus on empowering women to be able to take autonomous healthcare decisions or shared decision making while targeting subpopulations (ie, multiparous and rural-dwelling women, as well as those in other religious affiliations aside from Christianity) that are less likely to uptake cervical cancer screening. …”
