Reduction of elevated Gli3 does not alter the progression of autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease
Published 2025-01-01“…Prior studies have implicated Hedgehog (Hh) signaling in ADPKD, with increased levels of Hh components in experimental ADPKD and reduced cystogenesis following pharmacological Hh inhibition. In contrast, the role of the Hh pathway in ARPKD is poorly understood. …”

Cognitive dysfunction in diabetes – the ‘forgotten’ diabetes complication: a narrative review
Published 2025-01-01“…Recent years have seen research that has clarified cerebral insulin resistance and defective insulin signaling as examples of pathogenic factors behind this cognitive impairment in diabetes.Method We provide a narrative review of select and contemporary publications with relevance for the interface between diabetes/prediabetes and cognitive function. Results Recently published studies show that physical activity can reverse insulin resistance in the brain as well as cognitive impairment and pathological appetite regulation. Pharmacological interventions with, for example, nasal insulin, GLP-1 receptor agonists, SGLT-2 inhibitors, or PPAR-γ agonists have also shown promising results. Conclusion Optimization of lifestyle factors (e.g. physical activity), as well as several pharmaceutical agents already in clinical use against diabetes, have shown promising results in improving cognitive function in diabetic patients. …”

Targeting the activated allosteric conformation of the endothelin receptor B in melanoma with an antibody-drug conjugate: mechanisms and therapeutic efficacy
Published 2025-01-01“…Methods We previously reported the rendomab B49 antibody (RB49) exhibiting a preferential affinity for the activated conformation of human endothelin B receptor (ETB), not displaced by high endothelin levels, and without any pharmacological properties that could inhibit the division of melanoma cells. …”

Astragaloside IV inhibits atherosclerosis caused by ferritin autophagy in a lipid deposition environment by activating Nrf2
Published 2025-03-01“…In addition, astragaloside IV has lipid-modulating and antioxidant pharmacological potential. The vasoprotective and anti-ferroptosis effects of astragaloside IV were determined by establishing a high-fat-fed ApoE−/− mouse model of AS and an ox-LDL-induced model of lipid damage in VECs. …”

Modulatory Action by the Serotonergic System: Behavior and Neurophysiology in Drosophila melanogaster
Published 2016-01-01“…To determine which 5-HT receptor subtype modulates the evoked sensory-motor activity, pharmacological agents were used. In addition, the activity of 5-HT neurons was enhanced by expressing and activating TrpA1 channels or channelrhodopsin-2 while recording the evoked excitatory postsynaptic potentials (EPSPs) in muscle fibers. 5-HT2 receptor activation mediates a modulatory role in a sensory-motor circuit, and the activation of 5-HT neurons can suppress the neural circuit activity, while fluoxetine can significantly decrease the sensory-motor activity.…”
