Analysis of the Water Resources Sustainable Utilization in Guangdong Province and Nine Cities in the Pearl River Delta Based on Ecological Footprint Theory by ZHANG Yimin, ZHANG Xiaolin, CHEN Chang

    Published 2022-01-01
“…This paper focuses on the coordinated development between water resources utilization and the economy in Guangdong Province.Utilizing the water ecological footprint model,it calculates the per capita water ecological footprint, ecological carrying capacity, and ecological surplus (deficit) of Guangdong Province and nine cities in the Pearl River Delta in the past 10 years in terms of production, life, and ecological water use.The results show that from 2011 to 2020,the water ecological footprint per capita in these areas has shown a downward trend, and water utilization efficiency has increased year by year.In the past 10 years, the per capita water resources carrying capacity is greater than the ecological footprint, and water resources are in a sustainable state. However, the ecological surplus has shown a slow downward trend. As the production water accounts for a large proportion of total water use,a considerable improvement in agricultural water saving can be achieved in the province. In the process of economic development,it is still necessary to strengthen the management of water resources to further improve the water use efficiency and promote the sustainable use of water resources in the province.…”

Coupling Coordination Evaluation of Water Resources and Social Economy and Obstacle Factors in the Greater Bay Area by CHEN Juan, WANG Sen, YANG Jiantao, HE Xingchang

    Published 2023-01-01
“…In order to understand the coupling relationship between water resources and social economy and the main constraints in the Greater Bay Area,an evaluation index system of water resources and social economy in the Greater Bay Area is established. The coupling coordination degree model is used to evaluate the coordination states of water resources and social economy in the Greater Bay Area from 2011 to 2021,and the obstacle factors are analyzed. The results show that the coupling coordination degree of the water resources and social economy in the Greater Bay Area is between 0.43 and 0.51,which is in a low state, and the social economy system develops too fast. The degree of coupling coordination is relatively high in Zhuhai and relatively low in Foshan. The main obstacle factors are per capita water resources, per capita GDP,the proportion of tertiary industry GDP,urbanization rate, and the actual water consumption per mu of cultivated land. The research results provide a reference for the coordinated development of water resources and social economy and the planning, utilization, and management of water resources in the Greater Bay Area.…”
