Effects of Furrow Irrigation on the Growth, Production, and Water Use Efficiency of Direct Sowing Rice by Chunlin He

    Published 2010-01-01
“…The improved WUE in the FI system is attributed to (1) a significant reduction of irrigation rate, seepage, evaporation, and evapotranspiration; (2) a significant reduction in the reduced materials, such as ferrous ion (Fe2+), and therefore an increase in the vitality of the root system, evident by the increases in the number of white roots by 32.62%, and decreases in the number of black roots by 20.04% and yellow roots by 12.58%; the use of the FI system may also reduce humidity of the rice field and enhance gas transport in the soil and light penetration, which led to reduced rice diseases and increased leaf vitality; and (3) increases in tiller and effective spikes by 11.53% and the weight per thousand grains by 1.0 g. These findings suggest that the shallow FI system is a promising means for rice farming in areas with increasing water shortages.…”

A limited number of antibody specificities mediate broad and potent serum neutralization in selected HIV-1 infected individuals. by Laura M Walker, Melissa D Simek, Frances Priddy, Johannes S Gach, Denise Wagner, Michael B Zwick, Sanjay K Phogat, Pascal Poignard, Dennis R Burton

    Published 2010-08-01
“…The results suggest that broad and potent serum neutralization arises in most donors through a limited number of specificities (1-2 per donor). The major targets recognized are an epitope defined by the bNAbs PG9 and PG16 that is associated with conserved regions of the V1, V2 and V3 loops, an epitope overlapping the CD4 binding site and possibly the coreceptor binding site, an epitope sensitive to a loss of the glycan at N332 and distinct from that recognized by the bNAb 2G12 and an epitope sensitive to an I165A substitution. …”

The Potential of Neonatal Organ Donation in Central Sweden by Emil Bluhme, Ewa Henckel, Boubou Hallberg, Carl Jorns

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Criteria for kidney donation was met in 39 potential neonatal, 29 for liver and 18 for heart, corresponding to a potential increase of 1.9, 1.4, and 0.9 donors PMP per year, respectively. In total, 16 neonates had a catastrophic neurological injury in combination with lack of brainstem reflexes, indicating plausibility of donation after brain death. …”

Antihyperlipidemic Potential of Polyphenol and Glycoside Rich Nerium oleander Flower against Triton WR-1339-Induced Hyperlipidemia in Experimental Sprague Dawley Rats by V. Gayathri, S. Ananthi, Hannah R. Vasanthi

    Published 2013-01-01
“…In the present study, we have evaluated the toxicity profile of the 50% hydroethanolic extracts of Nerium oleander flowers (ENO) using in vitro brine shrimp lethality assay and MTT cytotoxicity assay and in vivo acute toxicity test as per the OECD guidelines. The antihyperlipidemic activity of the ENO was also studied using Triton WR-1339-induced hyperlipemic rats and compared with standard Atorvastatin. …”

Integrated Process for Multiple Product Breakeven Analysis and Limiting Resource Allocation in Profit Planning by Collins C Ngwakwe

    Published 2024-12-01
“…To buttress the optimization implication of limiting factor allocation, it concludes by presenting a comparison of total contribution using equal allocation of limiting factor to accentuate the fact that in times of limiting factor, the optimum contribution is attainable with optimal allocation of limiting factor of production through the prioritizing of the products with higher contribution per unit of limiting factor. The paper offers insights for practical application in multiple product companies and case teaching and research in business schools. …”
