Analysis of Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Semi-Enclosed Harbors—a Cause Study of Xiangzhou Port by YANG Yugui, XUAN Xiaoming, LIU Guozhen, TONG Xiaolei, YUAN Fei

    Published 2023-01-01
“…Affected by the construction of a series of projects, the semi-enclosed harbor often appears the phenomenon of weakening hydrodynamic force and worsening water exchange. In order to study the impact of project construction on the hydrodynamic environment of semi-closed harbors,a typical semi-enclosed port, namely Xiangzhou Fishing Port,in the Pearl River Estuary was taken as an example, and the impact of detailed control planning of the surrounding areas on flood discharge, tidal influx, and water exchange in Xiangzhou Fishing Port was studied. The results show that after the implementation of the planning scheme, the water level of the water area near the planning area and the upstream entrance gate,as well as the tidal volume of the tidal channel on the west side of Lingdingyang change slightly, but the tidal volume in the area of Xiangzhou Port decreases by about 1%.The hydrodynamic force is further weakened, and the semi-exchange cycle of the water body increases by about 3.2%.In particular, the water exchange capacity in the northwest corner of the port area is relatively poor, which is unfavorable to the water environment for a long time, and it is necessary to take hydrodynamic enhancement measures. The research results can provide a reference for hydrodynamic improvement in the water area of Xiangzhou Port.…”

Research on Spatiotemporal Evolution and Driving Factors of Extreme Climate in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by GUO Shan, ZHANG Dawei, WANG Yadi

    Published 2022-01-01
“…In recent years, frequent extreme climate events have become the focus of attention of the world.Studying the spatiotemporal evolution of extreme climate in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is of great significance for timely and accurate disaster prevention and mitigation forecasts and early warnings. On the basis of the precipitation and temperature data from 1961 to 2016,this paper uses the heuristic segmentation method,Mann-Kendall trend test, and cross wavelet method to analyze the spatiotemporal evolution of extreme climate in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and its relationship with driving factors. The results reveal that extreme precipitation and temperature changes are potentially related to sunspots and large-scale circulation factors including the multivariate ENSO index (MEI) and interdecadal Pacific oscillation (IPO),but their effects on extreme climate are different.Climate change will continue to profoundly affect urban construction and development. For future studies on the climate change in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, attention should be paid to the impact assessment of climate change in the Pearl River Basin and typical regions, and the research on the occurrence mechanism, risk assessment, countermeasures of extreme weather in the basin should be strengthened to reduce the damage of extreme climate events.…”

Analysis of Floods in Xijiang River and Beijiang River Based on Copula Function by REN Chengjun

    Published 2023-01-01
“…It is of great significance to analyze the flood situation of the Xijiang River and Beijiang River for peak shifting regulation of reservoirs in the basin and flood control and disaster reduction in the Pearl River Delta. Therefore,Gamma distribution and Von Mises distribution are used to fit the flood magnitude and occurrence time of annual maximum flood, respectively. The Copula function is used to construct a joint distribution of floods in Xijiang River and Beijiang River, and the possibility of floods in Xijiang River and Beijiang River is analyzed. The results show that the probability of simultaneous occurrence of major floods in Xijiang River and Beijiang River is extremely small. When Shijiao Station in Beijiang River experiences floods at a level of 5,10,20,50,100,and 200 a,respectively, the probability of occurrence of floods with the same frequency in Gaoyao Station Xijiang River is 0.345 0,0.200 3,0.108 5,0.046 6,0.023 7,and 0.012 0,respectively.The probability of floods in the two rivers is the highest in early June.As the flood magnitude increases, the risk of flood occurrence decreases. The probability of floods at a level of 5 a in the two rivers in early June is 1.32×10-3,and that of floods at a level of 200 a is only 1.17×10-6.…”

The Impact of Breakwater Type on Hydrodynamic Environment in Semi-Closed Harbor by WU Qiong, LI Mugui, LUO Huan

    Published 2021-01-01
“…Affected by breakwater construction, the water exchange of semi-closed harbor is often not smooth, and the self-purification ability is weak.To study the influence of different types of breakwater on the hydrodynamic environment in semi-closed harbor, the article took a typical semi-enclosed port in the Pearl River estuary,Xiangzhou fishing port as an example to analyze the differences of water exchange ability and the transport law of pollutants under the layout scheme of breakwater with opening width including 20、40、60、100 m.The results showed that, compared with the fully closed breakwater scheme, under the scheme of opening width of 20、40、60、100 m,the half exchange period of water in the harbor increased by 5.0 hours,11.0 hours,14.0 hours and 14.5 hours. The scheme with opening more than 40m was better than 20 m.However, there was no significant difference in the effect of the three schemes of opening 40、60、100 m.Considering the influence of regional pollution source input, under the scheme of breakwater opening, the concentration of inorganic nitrogen increased by 0.2~0.4 mg/L in the area near the opening. It further aggravated the pressure of inorganic nitrogen pollution in the northern part of the harbor, while the quality of water environment in the southern part of the harbor was improved due to the enhancement of water exchange ability.…”

Retrospect and Prospect of Existing Problems and Scientific Planning in Macau Marine Space by YANG Jing, SHUI Bing, NI Mingxuan

    Published 2021-01-01
“…The Macao Special Administrative Region is located at the outlet of the Pearl River. It is a typical beach land.It has expanded from 2.78 km2 in 1840 to more than 32 km2 at present. All the land is reclaimed from the sea.It is one of the regions with the highest proportion of land reclamation in the world.By reviewing the history of land reclamation in Macao Special Administrative Region, examining the current situation of water quality and excavating the existing problems of sea area development, this paper puts forward that it is necessary to establish a unified administrative structure in charge, strengthen pollution control, improve rain and sewage diversion treatment and discharge capacity, establish a pollution discharge permit system, promote regional legal cooperation and linkage law enforcement, and build a data platform. To achieve multi-party data fusion and other measures,so as to realize the advance planning of the sea area and scientific decision-making,so as to generate into the sea, improve the disaster resistance capacity of flood control and moisture-proof in the Macao Special Administrative Region, and better serve the development of the sea area and diversified economic construction of the Macao Special Administrative Region.…”
