Pathloss Model of Distance Independent for Indoor Area by Rumin Yang, Qiyi Dai, Chengbo Yu

    Published 2013-04-01
“…A pure statistical indoor path-loss model was proposed with an eye to address the problems of distance dependence and of line-of-sight(LOS)or non-LOS uncertainty, which lie in most conventional path-loss models. In the model, the path length(distance)was taken as a random variable, and the uncertainty of LOS or NLOS was represented by an alternating frequency between LOS and non-LOS channel conditions.Without knowing the priori path length, the model can estimate or predict the loss of path based on the priori knowledge of the radius of operating space,of the LOS/NLOS alternating frequency and of a confidence interval describing the path quality. In addition, three quality of services(QoS)for different quality requirements were proposed in order to conserve energy. As opposed to assuming fixed available power or covering the largest possible distance, which is typical in conventional models, the QoS-oriented model has significant advantages on resource allocation and energy conservation.Through a case study,it is indicated that this model is simple and practical.…”

A computation offloading scheme for energy consumption optimization in Internet of vehicles by Wenxuan GAO, Xinjie YANG

    Published 2023-10-01
“…In Internet of vehicles (IoV), vehicle-oriented applications are generally computation-intensive and latency-sensitive.Introducing idle computing resources from mobile vehicles as a supplement to network computing power can effectively alleviate the load pressure on edge servers. The problem of task allocation for edge computation offloading in the context of IoV environment were researched.By fully leveraging the combined computing resources of roadside units (RSU), user vehicles, and mobile vehicles within the RSU service range, a computation offloading strategy based on the sparrow search algorithm was proposed and referred to as sparrow search based computation offloading scheme (S2COS), aiming to optimize the overall system energy consumption. In addition, this strategy fully taked into account practical network issues such as service time constraints caused by vehicle mobility and the potential occurrence of computation node failures. The simulation results demonstrate that S2COS can meet the latency requirements for computation-intensive and latency-sensitive tasks, while significantly reducing system energy consumption.…”
