Weakly-coupled real-time SDM technology for short-reach optical transmission by Yuyang GAO, Juhao LI, Yongqi HE, Zhangyuan CHEN

    Published 2022-07-01
“…The capacity upgrade of short-reach optical fiber transmission has received more and more attention.Spatial division multiplexing provides two new dimensions of fiber core and mode, which can greatly increase the transmission capacity of a single fiber. However, the crosstalk between spatial channels severely limits the practical application of space division multiplexing technology. To address the problem, a weakly-coupled space-division multiplexing fiber was firstly designed, in which perturbed rings were introduced in the core to increase the effective refractive index difference between LP modes.Secondly, an all-fiber mode multiplexer/demultiplexer that could handle non-circularly symmetric degenerate LP modes was proposed, as well as a low insertion loss and low crosstalk fan-in and fan-out devices.Based on the proposed fiber and devices, the low-cost intensity modulation and direct detection were used to implement the short-reach weakly-coupled mode-division-multiplexing and multi-core and few-mode real-time transmission. Finally, the prospective of space-division multiplexing real-time optical transmission technology was discussed.…”

Experimental research on a direct-detection optical OFDM system based on cascaded variable coefficient training sequences and pre-emphasis technique by Wei WU, Jiang-nan XIAO, Ming CHEN, Jian-jun YU, Lin CHEN

    Published 2013-12-01
“…Frequency selective fading (FF)caused by digital to analog converter and optical fibe dispersion in optical fiber link was analysed, and signal-signal mixing interference (SSMI) when the orthogonal frequency division multiplex-ing (OFDM) signal was detected by PIN after transmitting over the fiber in direct-detection optical OFDM system. The cascaded variable coefficient training sequences and pre-emphasized configuration of O-OFDM signal were proposed to decrease the influence of the SSMI and FF.The theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the receiving sen-sitivity of the cascaded variable coefficient training sequences and pre-emphasized configuration of OFDM signal is higher than the interleaved configuration of training ed that the fiber transmission performance of the cascaded variable coefficient training sequences and pre-emphasized configuration of O-OFDM signal is better than the interleaved configuration of training sequence of OFDM signal in ro-bust tolerance against SSMI and FF.…”

    Published 2022-01-01
“…With its significant advantages of ultra-low latency, ultra-high bandwidth, and ultra-large-scale connection, 5G technology effectively compensates for the shortcomings of traditional optical fiber communication in the distribution network field, and provides a new network communication method for power distribution applications. However, the information security issues brought by the applications of 5G technology have appeared gradually.Based on this, a distribution network application scheme based on quantum secure communication and 5G hard-slicing private network was proposed. An end-to-end 5G hard-slicing private network for distribution network services was customized, and ensuring data transmission security by quantum secure communication technology. And this scheme has been deployed and verified in the actual distribution service network scenario, and the results showed that the average delay of 5G hard-slicing private network was 16.89 ms, the download sending and receiving rates were 380 Mbit/s and 371 Mbit/s, respectively, the upload sending and receiving rates were 31.2 Mbit/s and 30 Mbit/s, which meets the communication requirements of distribution network applications.Based on quantum secure communication technology, the quantum bit error rate was 0.75%, and the transmitted data can be encrypted and decrypted smoothly, which verified the feasibility of quantum secure communication and 5G hard-slicing technology in the distribution network.…”
