Functional switching among dynamic neuronal hub-nodes in the brain induces maintenance/transition of cognitive states
Published 2025-01-01“…The switching behaviour in the ratio of hub/non-hub nodes between frontal and occipital regions during NREMS-Wake and Wake-NREMS transitions provides support as proof-of-principle of functional regional inactivation or activation of hub-nodes as the gradual switching mechanism towards transitioning of cognitive states in a graded (or non-flipping) manner, wake to sleep or vice versa; the detailed neuro-physio-chemical mechanism needs further study. …”

A cross-lagged analysis of the relationship between marital quality and depression among the older adults: gender effects of socioeconomic status
Published 2025-01-01“…Regarding the moderating role of socioeconomic status, it was observed that among the older adult women, socioeconomic status exerted a moderating influence on the impact of depression on marital quality (β = 0.05, p < 0.05), whereas among the older adult men, their socioeconomic status failed to display a significant moderating effect (β = 0.02, p > 0.05). In a contrasting manner, for the older adult men, the socioeconomic status played a moderating role in the effect of marital quality on depression (β = −0.05, p < 0.01), while for the older adult women, it did not exhibit a moderating effect (β = −0.01, p > 0.05).ConclusionThere exists a reciprocal causal nexus between the marital quality and depression among the older adults. …”

An indole alkaloid from a tribal folklore inhibits immediate early event in HSV-2 infected cells with therapeutic efficacy in vaginally infected mice.
Published 2013-01-01“…The in vivo studies revealed that HM at its virucidal concentration was nontoxic and reduced virus yield in the brain of HSV-2 infected mice in a concentration dependent manner, compared to vaginal tissues. Thus, our results suggest that HM can serve as a prototype to develop non-nucleotide antiviral lead targeting the viral IE transcription for the management of HSV-2 infections.…”

D-ribose-5-phosphate inactivates YAP and functions as a metabolic checkpoint
Published 2025-01-01“…Interestingly, activated YAP further promotes purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP)-mediated breakdown of purine nucleoside to restore D5P in a feedback manner. Importantly, D5P synergistically enhances the tumor-suppressive effect of GLUT inhibitors and inhibits cancer progression in mice. …”

Irisin reshapes bone metabolic homeostasis to delay age-related osteoporosis by regulating the multipotent differentiation of BMSCs via Wnt pathway
Published 2025-01-01“…The macroscopic and microscopic changes of bone tissue in aging mice were examined using Micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT) and morphological staining.ResultsIt was noted that irisin affected the multilineage differentiation of BMSCs in a manner dependent on the dosage. Simultaneously, the Wnt signaling pathway might be a crucial mechanism through which irisin sustains the bone-fat balance in aging BMSCs and mitigates the decline in pluripotency. …”

The Effect of the Glucosinolate Sinigrin on Alterations in Molecular Biomarkers of the Myocardium in Swiss Mice
Published 2025-01-01“…These results suggest that the hydrolysis products of sinigrin may exert a potentially toxic effect on the myocardial tissue of female mice and possess the capability to modulate transcription factors in vivo in a sex-dependent manner. This observation calls for further investigation into the mechanisms regulating the actions of glucosinolate hydrolysis products, their interactions with sex hormones, and the determination of permissible intake levels associated with both beneficial and adverse outcomes.…”
