Short Cantilever Rock Beam Structure and Mechanism of Gob-Side Entry Retaining Roof in Reuse Period by Jingke Wu, Yun Dong, Jiarui Chen, Chunlei Zhang, Wei Yin, JiHua Zhang, Yongzhen Cheng

    Published 2020-01-01
“…A dynamic-equilibrium mechanical model of the main roof structure is presented and the formation mechanisms of different types of short cantilever rock beam structures are clarified. The following major conclusions are drawn: (1) Three types of short cantilever rock beam structures occur in the main roof of a gob-side entry retaining during the reuse period, namely, the “short cantilever-articulated rock beam” structure, “short cantilever step rock beam (type I)” structure, and “short cantilever step rock beam (type II)” structure. (2) The stability criterion for these three short cantilever rock beam structures was also determined; that is, when the sliding instability coefficient K ≥ 1, the short cantilever-articulated rock beam structure will form, and when the sliding instability coefficient K < 1, the short cantilever step rock beam (type I or II) will form. (3) The governing law for the thicknesses of the main roof, immediate roof, and coal seam of the short cantilever rock beam structure was clarified; namely, the K-value gradually increases with increases in the thickness of the coal seam, drops sharply and then decreases gradually with increases in the thickness of the main roof, and decreases slowly with increases in the thickness of the immediate roof. …”

Pancreatic Cancer: Molecular, Biochemical, Chemopreventive, and Therapeutic Aspects by Juan Iovanna, José Luis Neira

    Published 2010-01-01
“…For a clinically significant effect to be achieved, treatment strategies should either be in the form of (1) a horizontal approach, in which several oncogenic pathways (as those described in this series of reviews) are inhibited; or (2) a vertical approach, whereby multiple levels of a major pathway are targeted. Combination therapies, together with improved diagnostic tools and predictive markers, are ultimately desired in order to improve the bleak outlook for patients diagnosed with PC.…”

Using Linear Mixed-Effects Models to Analyze Historical Trends in Performance Strategies . Commentary on Majid Motavasseli’s Article “Interpretation of Cyclic Form in Bach’s ‘Goldb... by Bruno Gingras

    Published 2021-11-01
“…Using a tempo measurement database comprising seventy-six selected recordings of the “Goldberg” cycle, I built a linear mixed-effects model predicting the main tempo for each recording from the following parameters: performer, variation number, instrument (piano or harpsichord), year of recording, variation type, and finally mode (major/minor) of the variation. Two statistically significant interactions emerged: a two-way interaction between instrument and mode, and a three-way interaction between instrument, year of recording, and variation type. …”
