Women’s hospital birth experiences in Harar, eastern Ethiopia: a qualitative study using Roy’s Adaptation Model
Published 2022-07-01“…Data were analysed using the four components of Roy’s Adaptation Model (RAM) as a guiding framework of women’s experiences: physiological, self-concept, role and function, and interdependence. Results Various behaviours were identified: under physiological mode, common behaviours identified included labour pain, fatigue, surgical site pain and anaesthesia-related complication. The women’s major problems in self-concept mode were concern for future pregnancy, lack of privacy, newborn health status, relationship with healthcare providers and lack of family support. …”

Published 2025-01-01“…Successive pathways involve the addition of molecular oxygen to the energized adducts [3M1P]•, forming [3M1P–O2]• peroxy radicals, which primarily react with nitric oxide to produce nitrogen dioxide and the [3M1P–O]• alkoxy radicals. The major degradation products include methyl formate, 3-hydroxypropyl formate, glycolaldehyde, and 3-methoxypropanal.…”

Exploring digital health interventions for pregnant women at high risk for pre-eclampsia and eclampsia in low-income and-middle-income countries: a scoping review
Published 2022-02-01“…The review reported three major outcomes: maternal health outcomes including maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality (n=4); usability and acceptability including ease-of-use, and perceived usefulness, (n=5); and intervention feasibility and fidelity including accuracy of device, and intervention implementation (n=7).Conclusion Although the current evidence base shows some potential for the use of digital health interventions for PE/E, more prospective experimental and longitudinal studies are needed prior to recommending the use of digital health interventions for PE/E.…”

Short Cantilever Rock Beam Structure and Mechanism of Gob-Side Entry Retaining Roof in Reuse Period
Published 2020-01-01“…A dynamic-equilibrium mechanical model of the main roof structure is presented and the formation mechanisms of different types of short cantilever rock beam structures are clarified. The following major conclusions are drawn: (1) Three types of short cantilever rock beam structures occur in the main roof of a gob-side entry retaining during the reuse period, namely, the “short cantilever-articulated rock beam” structure, “short cantilever step rock beam (type I)” structure, and “short cantilever step rock beam (type II)” structure. (2) The stability criterion for these three short cantilever rock beam structures was also determined; that is, when the sliding instability coefficient K ≥ 1, the short cantilever-articulated rock beam structure will form, and when the sliding instability coefficient K < 1, the short cantilever step rock beam (type I or II) will form. (3) The governing law for the thicknesses of the main roof, immediate roof, and coal seam of the short cantilever rock beam structure was clarified; namely, the K-value gradually increases with increases in the thickness of the coal seam, drops sharply and then decreases gradually with increases in the thickness of the main roof, and decreases slowly with increases in the thickness of the immediate roof. …”

Pancreatic Cancer: Molecular, Biochemical, Chemopreventive, and Therapeutic Aspects
Published 2010-01-01“…For a clinically significant effect to be achieved, treatment strategies should either be in the form of (1) a horizontal approach, in which several oncogenic pathways (as those described in this series of reviews) are inhibited; or (2) a vertical approach, whereby multiple levels of a major pathway are targeted. Combination therapies, together with improved diagnostic tools and predictive markers, are ultimately desired in order to improve the bleak outlook for patients diagnosed with PC.…”

Published 2021-11-01“…Using a tempo measurement database comprising seventy-six selected recordings of the “Goldberg” cycle, I built a linear mixed-effects model predicting the main tempo for each recording from the following parameters: performer, variation number, instrument (piano or harpsichord), year of recording, variation type, and finally mode (major/minor) of the variation. Two statistically significant interactions emerged: a two-way interaction between instrument and mode, and a three-way interaction between instrument, year of recording, and variation type. …”
