Study of equivalent point-to-point transmission model for coded relay cooperations
Published 2012-12-01“…LDPC-coded relay cooperation and its joint iterative decoding based on the bi-layer Tanner graph were investigated. The coded relay cooperation becomed an equivalent and relatively simple point-to-point transmission model by introducing the notation of average arithmetic/geometr SNR for the receiver in the destination, which could be employed to perform the further study on more complex coded relay cooperations. Both LDPC-coded relay cooperation and its equivalent point-to-point model have almost the same performance by theoretical analysis and ical simulation, which proves the validity of the introduced equivalent model and the joint iterative decoding based on bi-layer Tanner graph.…”

Efficient algorithm for calculating short cycles in Tanner graph based on matrix computation
Published 2017-04-01“…Loop distribution of Tanner graph affects the BER performance of low-density parity-check codes(LDPC) decoding. To count short cycles in the Tanner graph efficiently,a side by side recursion algorithm based on matrix computation was proposed.Firstly,5 basic graph structures were defined to realize recursive calculate in the implementation process.Compared with previous works, the algorithm provided many methods for counting the same length of cycles. The same result confirmed the correctness of the algorithm. The new algorithm could not only calculate the total number of cycles, but also gave the number each edge participating in fixed-length cycles. Its complexity was proportional to the product of D and square of N,where D was the average degree of variable nodes, and N denoted the code length. For LDPC codes,D was far less than N.For most of the LDPC codes, the calculation for numbers of cycle-length g、g+2、g+4 was only several seconds.…”

EM-based blind LDPC identification in multipath channels
Published 2018-09-01“…As the advent of cognitive radios, blind encoder identification has attracted increasingly attentions since it plays an important role. The existing works mainly focus on additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, while the blind identification in multipath scenarios has not been sufficiently investigated.Considering the blind low density parity-check (LDPC) codes identification in the presence of unknown multipath fading channel,a likelihood-based classifier was proposed using the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm to obtain the maximum likelihood estimates of the unknown parameters. Then,an average log-likelihood ratio (LLR) estimator was adopted to classify the unknown encoder.Numerical results show that the proposed algorithm provides promising identification performance in multipath channels, especially in the low signal-to-noise ratio region.…”

Simulation and measurement of multi-carrier and single-carrier frequency domain equalization systems
Published 2009-01-01“…Chinese national standard of digital terrestrial Television broadcasting(DTTB) was a block transmission system in which the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(OFDM) and single-carrier frequency domain equalization(SC-FDE) transmission technologies were compatible. In order to compare the performance of these two technologies over frequency selective fading channel,OFDM and SC-FDE systems using low density parity check code(LDPC) were simulated. Moreover, laboratory tests were carried out to measure the performance of the actual DTTB system. Both the simulation and measurement results show that for the LDPC coded system,OFDM outperforms SC-FDE over frequency-selective fading channels, and the advantage of OFDM becomes more obvious with the deterioration of the fading channel and/or increase of the modulation level. The results are expected to be helpful for the design and optimization of the Chinese DTTB system.…”

HARQ scheme for sparse code multiple access based on network coding
Published 2022-09-01“…To fulfill the stringent reliability and throughput demand of the beyond-5G and the forthcoming 6G, a novel network coding (NC) based hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) for low-density parity check (LDPC) coded SCMA was proposed. Two incorrectly received packets from different time slots were retransmitted by using NC principle under multi-user scenario.By doing so, the information came from two packets could be conveyed in one retransmission. Moreover, extra coding gain could be attained at the receiver.Furthermore, since the similarity between SCMA detector and LDPC decoder, and the one check node feature of NC decoder, a SCMA, LDPC and NC joint decoder based on message passing algorithm (MPA) was proposed. The proposed scheme could fully utilize the soft messages come from current and previous transmissions, and thus exploiting satisfied coding gain from NC.Simulation results show that the superiority of the proposed novel HARQ scheme for SCMA over the conventional HARQ on both throughput and reliability.…”

Interleaved-LoRa Transmission Scheme for Satellite IoT
Published 2023-03-01“…The transmission distance of satellite IoT is much further than terrestrial IoT, resulting in a signifi cant power loss on the transmission link. Thus the received signal power at a receiver will be signifi cantly lower.Combining a high-performance FEC coding and LoRa modulation with a signifi cant spreading factor enables reliable communication at very low signal-to-noise ratios. However, LoRa modulation dramatically decrease spectral effi ciency as the spreading factor increases. An interleaved LoRa transmission scheme that could achieved high spectral effi ciency with a low bit error rate (BER) was proposed.Firstly, a non-coherent soft demodulation algorithm was presented for LoRa and the corresponding performance comparison with the use of Turbo and LDPC codes. Then proposed a soft demodulation algorithm for interleaved-LoRa transmission.Simulation results showed that Turbo coded interleaved-LoRa system outperformed the uncoded system by about 4 dB at a BER=10-5, which was equivalently to a 55%~57% improvement on communication distance in free space.Furthermore, the spectral effi ciency was improved by approximately 23% compared to the existing Turbo-LoRa scheme.…”
