Application and Demand Model of 5G Communication Technology in Hydrology by LIU Yunshan, LIU Xunhua, GUO Dongrong

    Published 2022-01-01
“…In the context of hydrological modernization, the existing communication technology is unable to support the ever-increasing requirements. At present, the application of 5G in many fields has achieved good results. However, there is no in-depth analysis and research on its application situation in the hydrological industry and the demand of the hydrological industry based on 5G.Depending on the analysis of the station network, informatization status and communication technology application regarding hydrology in Ganzhou, the pilot application of 5G in Ganzhou demonstrates that 5G communication technology has obvious advantages over the current communication technology in terms of high-definition video surveillance, hydrological factors monitoring and software system. The analysis of hydrological demand based on 5G yields that demand points for 5G are mainly reflected in hydrological monitoring, equipment technology, video surveillance, software system, hydrological services and Internet of Things related to hydrology, hydrological management and other scalable business. The connection between demand points is also established to build a demand model of 5G-based intelligent hydrology.Noteworthily, the mature application of 5G in the hydrological field to support intelligent hydrology still suffers from some problems, such as low industrialization of support equipment, high cost, small signal coverage and difficult talent training. The next research direction is also proposed in this paper.…”

Reinforcement learning-based real-time video streaming control and on-device training research by Huanhuan ZHANG, Anfu ZHOU, Huadong MA

    Published 2022-12-01
“…Service platforms centered on the Internet of things and mobile Internet are in accelerating process.Hundreds of millions of end-users communicate through network real-time video services, which have become an irreplaceable core tool in human’s digital life. However, the Internet is becoming dynamic, and heterogeneous, which imposes stringent requirements on real-time video streaming control technology. Moreover, the QoE of real-time video is not satisfactory. An adaptive reinforcement learning-based video intelligent transmission algorithm was designed, which can deal with heterogeneous network environment. And then, an effective end-to-end on-device training framework was designed to decrease server overhead, and a detailed evaluation and analysis on the neural network design and structure was provided.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively predict heterogeneous network bandwidth, and reduces the bandwidth prediction error by 48.48%, comparing with the representative streaming control algorithm. The effective bandwidth prediction can further improve the user QoE, such as improving the video fluency by 60.65%, and improving the video quality by 16.52%.Besides, the analysis can provide empirical insights for further study, and holds potential to push the development of intelligent video applications.…”

Optimal relay selection for full duplex SWIPT-NOMA systems with maximal throughput by Taoshen LI, Anni SHI, Zhe WANG, Lu HE

    Published 2021-05-01
“…To improve the performance of 5G communication system, a full duplex Internet of things (IoT) relay system model was built by introducing the non-orthogonal multi-access (NOMA) technology. For the relay system of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT), it was considered that the relay node can harvest the energy of the source node, the self-interference signal of the loop channel and the free energy access point (EAP), and NOMA technology was used to forward the source node signal and its own signal to different destination nodes.Based on the model, a power distribution collaboration SWIPT relay selection strategy was proposed to optimize system throughput.Firstly, the problem model was established based on the constraints of communication quality of service and transmission power of source nodes. And then, the original nonlinear 0-1 programming problem was converted into a pair of coupling optimization problem by mathematical transformation, and the optimal relay selection of outer optimization problem was solved based on the optimal solution of the internal optimization problem. Finally, an optimal relay selection algorithm was used to maximize system throughput.Simulation results show that the proposed model and strategy are superior to the traditional maximum-minimum relay selection schemes in terms of throughput gain, and the consideration of EAP can significantly improve the interrupt performance.…”

A single flow detection enabled method for DDoS attacks in IoT based on traffic feature reconstruction and mapping by Lixia XIE, Bingdi YUAN, Hongyu YANG, Ze HU, Xiang CHENG, Liang ZHANG

    Published 2024-01-01
“…To address the slow response time of existing detection modules to Internet of things (IoT) distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, their low feature differentiation, and poor detection performance, a single flow detection enabled method based on traffic feature reconstruction and mapping (SFDTFRM) was proposed.Firstly, SFDTFRM employed a queue to store previously arrived flow based on the first in, first out rule.Secondly, to address the issue of similarity between normal communication traffic of IoT devices and DDoS attack traffic, a multidimensional reconstruction neural network model more lightweight compared to the baseline model and a function mapping method were proposed. The modified model loss function was utilized to reconstruct the quantitative feature matrix of the queue according to the corresponding index, and transformed into a mapping feature matrix through the function mapping method, enhancing the differences between different types of traffic, including normal communication traffic of IoT devices and DDoS attack traffic. Finally, the frequency information was extracted using a text convolutional network and information entropy calculation and the machine learning classifier was employed for DDoS attack traffic detection. The experimental results on two benchmark datasets show that SFDTFRM can effectively detect different DDoS attacks, and the average metrics value of SFDTFRM is a maximum of 12.01% higher than other existing methods.…”
