Spatiotemporal variability of groundwater chemistry, source identification and health risks in the southern Chinese Loess Plateau
Published 2025-01-01“…The results showed that except for bicarbonate, spatiotemporal variability of hydrochemical components in Malian River Basin (ML) was generally greater than that in Upper Jinghe River basin (JH-U) due to the hydrogeological conditions, and the hydrochemical facies in two river basins transformed from SO4·Cl and Cl·SO4 types to HCO3 and HCO3·SO4 types. The results of integrated-weight quality index (IWQI) showed that 77.8 % (1970s), 33.3 % (2004), 34.3 % (2015) of samples in ML exceeded the standard limits of Class IV groundwater quality, displaying a high pollution level with an improvement trend, while groundwater quality in JH-U indicated a very low pollution level with a deterioration trend. …”

Understanding the educational inequalities in suicide attempts and their mediators: a Mendelian randomisation study
Published 2024-02-01“…Elucidating modifiable risk factors that serve as intermediaries in the impact of low educational attainment on suicide has the potential to reduce health disparities.Aims To examine the risk factors that mediate the relationship between educational attainment and suicide attempts and quantify their contributions to the mediation effect. Methods We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomisation (MR) analysis to estimate the causal effect of educational attainment on suicide attempts, utilising genome-wide association study summary statistics from the Integrative Psychiatric Research (iPSYCH; 6024 cases and 44 240 controls) and FinnGen (8978 cases and 368 299 controls). …”

Temporally enhanced RSEI and nighttime lights reveal long-term ecological changes and effective protection in China’s inaugural national parks
Published 2025-01-01“…The results indicate that: 1) The temporally enhanced RSEI (tRSEI) effectively integrates the dynamic changes of multiple variables and offers better temporal comparability for long-term ecological monitoring; 2) From 2000 to 2022, the ecological environment quality within the inaugural NPs significantly improved, with more noticeable improvements observed following the implementation of pilot conservation programs; 3) The spatial variation in ecological quality within these NPs is driven by the interaction of multiple factors, including human activities, climate variability, and topographical conditions, with significant differences among the parks; 4) Although overall NTL intensity both inside and outside the NPs increased between 2000 and 2022, especially with accelerated growth in surrounding areas post-pilot program implementation, NTL levels within the parks remained relatively low. …”
