Major royal-jelly proteins intake modulates immune functions and gut microbiota in mice
Published 2024-01-01“…In this study, we investigated the effects of major royal jelly proteins (MRJPs) on the estrogen, gut microbiota, and immunological responses in mice. Mice given 250 or 500 mg/kg, not 125 mg/kg of MRJPs, enhanced the proliferation of splenocytes in response to mitogens. …”

Risk factors for multiple organic dysfunctions syndrome in burnt children.
Published 2009-05-01“…The considered systems for dysfunction diagnosis were: respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, metabolic, central nervous system, hematologic, immunologic, and wounds healing. Data was processed by bivariate analysis of independent variables in relation with the dependent variable, to model a response variable of the syndrome occurrence (or not). …”

Improvement of the Survival of Human Autologous Fat Transplantation by Adipose-Derived Stem-Cells-Assisted Lipotransfer Combined with bFGF
Published 2015-01-01“…In the present study, human fat tissues were mixed with ASCs, ASCs plus 100 U bFGF, or medium as the control and then injected subcutaneously into immunologically compromised nude mice for 12 weeks. Our findings demonstrated that mixture with the ASCs significantly increased the weight and volume of the fat grafts compared to control grafts, and histological analysis revealed that both ASCs and ASCs plus bFGF grafts consisted predominantly of adipose tissue and had significantly less fibrosis but greater microvascular density compared with control and also grafts mixed with ASCs had a high expression of angiogenic factors. …”

Inflammatory Cytokine Profile Associated with Metabolic Syndrome in Adult Patients with Type 1 Diabetes
Published 2015-01-01“…Patients were considered to have metabolic syndrome when they fulfilled the joint statement criteria and were evaluated for clinical, biochemical, and immunological features. Methods. We determined serum IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, and TNF with flow cytometry and adiponectin and resistin concentrations with enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in patients with and without metabolic syndrome. …”

Interleukin-18 Increases TLR4 and Mannose Receptor Expression and Modulates Cytokine Production in Human Monocytes
Published 2015-01-01“…This cytokine exerts many unique biological and immunological effects. To explore the role of IL-18 in inflammatory innate immune responses, we investigated its impact on expression of two toll-like receptors (TLR2 and TLR4) and mannose receptor (MR) by human peripheral blood monocytes and its effect on TNF-α, IL-12, IL-15, and IL-10 production. …”

A mathematical model of HTLV-I infection with two time delays
Published 2014-12-01“…In this paper, we include two time delays in a mathematical model for the CD8$^+$ cytotoxicT lymphocytes (CTLs) response to the Human T-cell leukaemia virus type I (HTLV-I) infection, where one is the intracellular infection delay and the other is the immune delay to account for aseries of immunological events leading to the CTL response. We show that the global dynamicsof the model system are determined by two threshold values $R_0$, the correspondingreproductive number of a viral infection, and $R_1$, the corresponding reproductive numberof a CTL response, respectively. …”

Immune Dysfunction in Tourette Syndrome
Published 2013-01-01“…A similar link has been proposed also for Tourette syndrome (TS), a complex, multifactorial disorder, in which the interplay between genetic, environmental, hormonal and immunological factors might be relevant. Lymphocyte subpopulation analysis in TS suggests a possible systemic activation of several T- and B-cell subtypes, whereas the observed decreased numbers of T regulatory lymphocytes might predispose to autoimmunity. …”
