Response Characteristics of Steppe Inland River Basins under Climate Change and Its Impact on Runoff from 1982—2020
Published 2022-01-01“…Based on hydro-meteorological data and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) from 1982 to 2020,this paper studies the Wulagai River basin in Inner Mongolia and analyzes the vegetation response characteristics of the basin under climate change and its impact on runoff by adopting a hydrological model of soil and water assessment tool (SWAT) and statistical analysis method. The results show that the SWAT model has good applicability in the basin. The Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient (NSE) and coefficient of determination (R2) are larger than 0.62 in both regular and validation periods, and the relative error (PBLAS) is less than 18.8%.In the last 40 years, precipitation in the basin decreased slowly at a rate of 8.9 mm/10a,while temperature and actual evapotranspiration increased at a rate of 0.43°C/10a and 2.8 mm/10a,respectively,which indicates that the basin is becoming warm and dry.As the basin climate gets warm and dry,the vegetation recovers and grows vigorously. As a result, climate change and vegetation recovery lead to a reduced runoff depth of the basin. The study results can provide a reference for ecological conservation and sustainable utilization of water resources of inland river basins in arid and semi-arid regions.…”

Study on the Water Volume of Erhai Lake in Yunnan Plateau
Published 2021-01-01“…Based on the monitoring results of hydrological factors such as measured discharge, precipitation, evaporation and outflow in the Erhai Lake Basin from 1956 to 2018,this paper calculates the natural water volume of the Erhai Lake by using two related methods, namely the principle of watershed generation and convergence and the water balance, and studies the trend and periodicity of natural water volume in Erhai Lake over the years through the Manner-Kendall method and wavelet analysis method. The results show that:The natural water volume calculated by the two methods in Erhai Lake for many years is relatively close, with the relative error of 0.5%,that is 851.9 million cubic meters, among which the water production in the lake area is -93.2 million cubic meters, and the water volume of the land is 944.9 million cubic meters (north (a)>west (b)>southeast (c)>east (d),accounting for 54.9%,33.2%,6.9%,and 4.9% of the land water volume, respectively); The natural water volume in the Erhai Lake throughout the year, the flood season, and the dry season show a decreasing trend with time, especially in the flood season; There are periodic changes in the water volume around 9,12,21,and 32 a,which led to the trend of rich and dry changes in the natural water volume of Erhai Lake.…”

Analysis of Variation Characteristics of Precipitation Series from 1970 to 2019 in Qingyuan City
Published 2021-01-01“…In order to understand the variation characteristics of precipitation in Qingyuan City in recent decades, and realize the scientific management and utilization of water resources, based on the measured precipitation data of six representative hydrologic stations in Qingyuan from 1970 to 2019,this paper analyzes and studies the trend change, sudden change and periodic characteristics of annual precipitation in Qingyuan by moving average method,Mann-Kendall test method and Morlet wavelet analysis method. The results show that:The annual precipitation of Qingyuan Station and Zhukeng Station showed a decreasing trend, while that of Damiaoxia Station,Yingde Station,Yangshan Station and Lianxian Station showed an increasing trend, but the change was not significant. The sudden drop occurred around 1975 for Qingyuan Station and Yingde Station, around 2015 for Damiaoxia Station and Lianxian Station, around 1982 for Zhukeng Station.and around 1973 and 2015 for Yangshan Station. The precipitation series of each station has obvious alternation of wet and dry seasons. There are 3 to 4 main periods of precipitation at each station. The first and second main periods are generally 22 or 15 years, and the third and fourth main periods are generally 7 or 3 years. After 2015,the annual precipitation at each station turned into a decreasing trend.Currently,Qingyuan is in a period of low precipitation.…”

Numerical Simulation of the Effect of Long-Term Reclamation on the Flow and Sediment Concentration in Binhai Port,Yancheng
Published 2021-01-01“…Binhai Port is located at the most obvious corrosive coastline of the abandoned Yellow River delta in the north of Jiangsu Province, where the near-shore wave and flow dynamic is strong, the sediment movement is relatively active, the underwater terrain is complex and the slope erosion is obvious.Based on the measured hydrological and sediment data and a two-dimensional mathematical model for wave, tidal current and sediment, this paper quantitatively analyzes the influence of the long-term reclamation project on the flow and sediment concentration in the study area and the surrounding estuary, and emphatically discusses the back silting characteristics and deposition causes of the 300 000-ton channel during normal and rough weather. The results show that:After the implementation of the reclamation project, the flow and sediment characteristics of the study area don't change in a large scale, and mainly the flow and sediment near the project site is affected. The sediment is deposited after the channel dredging and a sediment deposit centered at the area with peak sediment concentration is formed in the channel, with decreasing deposition thickness to the port and outer sea channel.During rough weather, the maximum deposition thickness can reach 8~24 times of that in normal weather, but it is less than 0.2 m/d and there is no sudden silting and navigation blocking.…”

Medium- and Long-term Runoff Prediction Based on SMA-LSSVM
Published 2022-01-01“…Medium-and long-term runoff prediction is extremely important for flood control, disaster reduction and the utilization efficiency improvement of water resources. To avoid the influence of prediction model parameters on prediction accuracy, this paper proposes a medium-and long-term runoff prediction model based on least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) optimized by the slime mold algorithm (SMA).Firstly, five standard test functions are selected to compare the simulation results of SMA and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithms in different dimensions.Secondly,SMA is used to optimize the penalty parameters and kernel parameters of LSSVM,and the comparison models of LSSVM and PSO-LSSVM are constructed. Finally, the models are verified with the monthly runoff of Manwan Hydropower Station Reservoir and Yingluoxia Hydrological Station as prediction examples. The results show that the mean square error of the SMA-LSSVM model is 29.26% and 7.42% lower than those of the LSSVM and PSO-LSSVM models, respectively,in the monthly runoff prediction of the Manwan station, and 32.61% and 6.61% lower, respectively,in the monthly runoff prediction of the Yingluoxia station. The proposed SMA-LSSVM model has better comprehensive prediction performance and also provides a new method for medium- and long-term runoff prediction.…”
