Analysis of Water and Sediment Characteristics in Rongjiang River Basin
Published 2023-01-01“…The Rongjiang River Basin is a tidal reach, where the movement of water and sediment is complicated.Over the years, sediment deposition and soil erosion are serious.Hence, the study of the variations of water and sediment in the Rongjiang River Basin is of great significance for water area management and river management in the basin.Upon the comprehensive analysis of the water and sediment data of Dongqiaoyuan Hydrological Station in the mainstream of Rongjiang River from 1953 to 2017,the trend analysis of the water and sediment sequence is carried out by the moving average method and Mann-Kendall trend test. The mutation analysis is made by the Mann-Kendall mutation test and ordered cluster analysis.Meanwhile,Morlet wavelet analysis is used to discuss the periodicity of the water and sediment process. The characteristics, variations, and influencing factors of water and sediment in the Rongjiang River Basin are obtained to provide theoretical support and a digital model for further study of the characteristics of water and sediment in the basin.…”

Annual Characteristics of Runoff and Sediment in West River and North River Delta and Their Influencing Factors
Published 2023-01-01“…The analysis of annual characteristics of runoff and sediment based on the monthly measured hydrological data of Makou Station and Sanshui Station in the West River and North River delta over the past 50 years. It shows that the monthly runoff, sediment discharge, and sediment concentration of Makou Station and Sanshui Station are obviously of the “unimodal type”,with runoff and sediment concentrated in June and July during the flood season. The annual concentration ratio of runoff and sediment in the West River and North River delta is high with a decreasing trend, while the concentration period is concentrated in early July with a slight delay. The interannual variation trend of runoff and sediment in the West River and North River delta is mainly controlled by the variation of flood season and is affected to some extent by the regulation of the non-flood period. There is a consistent interannual trend of runoff with precipitation, but the annual concentration ratio is more affected by hydraulic engineering.Sand excavation in river channels affects the distribution of runoff and sediment by changing the diversion ratio of runoff and sediment.…”
