    Published 2025-12-01
“…It is based on research demonstrating the importance of: (1) Levels of engagement of the intended audience in the production, (2) use of understandable and culturally meaningful language, incorporation of (3) surface cultural cues and (4) deeper cultural constructs, (5) presence of a narrative to bind the information and cultural elements into a relatable story, and (6) factors associated with concrete psychological construal level (“now,” “here,” “you”).Methods We document a trial of the cultural tailoring score conducted by graduate students identifying as Filipino, Haitian, or Hispanic/Latinx reviewing 17 ads promoting COVID-19 vaccine that had been pretested during the pandemic for perceived effectiveness with convenience samples of these same ethnic groups. Results We achieved a combined Spearman’s Rank Correlation rho of 0.45 between the cultural tailoring score and perceived effectiveness ranking of all 17 ads (individual cultural groupings range from Spearman’s rho 0.45 to 0.90), suggesting that cultural components were moderately to strongly associated with perceived effectiveness. …”

    Published 2025-01-01
“…However, as with other ground-based datasets, the fixed (Eulerian) nature of these measurements often introduces a knowledge gap in relating those observations with air-mass hysteresis. Here, we describe ARMTRAJ (<span class="uri">https://doi.org/10.5439/2309851</span>, Silber, 2024a; <span class="uri">https://doi.org/10.5439/2309849</span>, Silber, 2024b; <span class="uri">https://doi.org/10.5439/2309850</span>, Silber, 2024c; <span class="uri">https://doi.org/10.5439/2309848</span>, Silber, 2024d), a set of multipurpose trajectory datasets that helps close this gap in ARM deployments. …”

The probability of detecting host-specific microbial source tracking markers in surface waters was strongly associated with method and season by Claire M. Murphy, Daniel L. Weller, Tanzy M. T. Love, Michelle D. Danyluk, Laura K. Strawn

    Published 2025-02-01
“…This highlights the need for standardization of methods for MST marker detection across studies but also suggests that other factors, beyond those non-methodological variables considered here, influenced variation in the likelihood of MST marker detection.IMPORTANCEThis study underscores complications associated with comparing findings from studies that used different methodologies to detect the same fecal targets and highlights the difficulties associated with using non-comparable data to generalize findings and develop science-based risk management plans. …”
