Learning-based pattern-data-driven forecast approach for predicting future well responses by Yeongju Kim, Baehyun Min, Alexander Sun, Bo Ren, Hoonyoung Jeong

    Published 2025-02-01
“…Recently, data-driven forecast methods, such as data-space inversion (DSI) and a learning-based data-driven forecast approach (LDFA), have been introduced to mitigate the computational cost and geological constraint issues of history-matching methods. …”

La collection de vases grecs du marquis de Northampton (1790-1851). Entre archéologie et sciences de la nature by Marie-Amélie Bernard

    Published 2014-10-01
“…He was also a member of several learned societies, and had a keen interest in geology and mineralogy. The article examines the history of his collection and the principles behind its constitution in order to determine its relationship with the natural sciences.…”

Influence of volatiles (H$_{2}$O and CO$_{2}$) on shoshonite phase equilibria by Vetere, Francesco, Namur, Olivier, Holtz, Francois, Almeev, Renat, Donato, Paola, Frondini, Francesco, Cassetta, Michele, Pisello, Alessandro, Perugini, Diego

    Published 2023-07-01
“…This result has important consequences upon the physical properties of the magma because it influences its viscosity and, as a consequence, velocity during its travel to the Earth surface.Assuming that the widths of Vulcanello conduits vary from 0.5 to 1.5 m, estimates of the ascent velocity vary in the range 1.5 ${\times }$ 10$^{-4}$–3.5 ${\times }$ 10$^{-2}$ m${\cdot }$s$^{-1}$ for CO$_{2}$ free systems and from 5.7 ${\times }$ 10$^{-4}$–1.3 ${\times }$ 10$^{-1}$ m${\cdot }$s$^{-1}$ for CO$_{2}$ bearing systems.Since shoshonitic magmas are common not only in the Italian volcanic provinces (Aeolian Arc, Campi Flegrei, Ischia Island, Pontine Islands, Monti Cimini, Monte Amiata, Capraia Island, Radicofani, Roccamonfina) but also in different volcanoes worldwide (Yellowstone, Mariana Arc, Kurile Arc, Tonga Arc, Andean Arc, Kamchatka Arc), we suggest that the new data will be useful to better understand shoshonitic magma behaviour under relevant geological scenarios. As such, we also suggest that hazard evaluation should incorporate the probability of very rapid ascent of poorly-evolved melts from depth.…”

Quantifying the crossover from capillary fingering to viscous fingering in heterogeneous porous media by Xin Yang, Xingfu Li, Bo Kang, Bin Xu, Hehua Wang, Xin Zhao, Bo Zhang, Kai Jiang, Shitao Liu, Yanbing Tang

    Published 2025-03-01
“…Studying immiscible fluid displacement patterns can provide a better understanding of displacement processes within heterogeneous porous media, thereby helping improving oil recovery and optimizing geological CO2 sequestration. As the injection rate of water displacing oil increases and the displacement pattern transits from capillary fingering to viscous fingering, there is a broad crossover zone between the two that can adversely affect the oil displacement efficiency. …”

Investigation on Nonuniform Extension of Hydraulic Fracture in Shale Gas Formation by Zhiheng Zhao, Youcheng Zheng, Yili Kang, Bo Zeng, Yi Song

    Published 2021-01-01
“…In this work, based on the geology and engineering characteristics of Changning shale block, different cluster number, cluster spacing, perforation distribution, and flow rate were discussed by the numerical simulation method to clarify multifracture propagation. …”
