The Influence of Precipitation and Consecutive Dry Days on Burned Areas in Yunnan Province, Southwestern China by Feng Chen, Zhaofei Fan, Shukui Niu, Jingming Zheng

    Published 2014-01-01
“…We examined the correlation between burned area of individual wildfires and the rainfall amounts occurring on the day of the burn and the number of consecutive dry days for a range of limiting daily rainfall amounts (0–6mm) used to define a “dry” day. …”

The Impact of Precipitation Regimes on Forest Fires in Yunnan Province, Southwest China by Feng Chen, Shukui Niu, Xiaojuan Tong, Jinlong Zhao, Yu Sun, Tengfei He

    Published 2014-01-01
“…To fully understand the effects of precipitation regimes on forest fires, a drought index was developed with number of consecutive dry days (daily precipitation less than 2 mm) and total precipitation, and the relationships of drought and precipitation with fire activities were investigated over two periods (i.e., 1982–1988 and 1989–2008) in five ecoregions of Yunnan Province. …”

Evaluation of buffalo milk production in several states of Venezuela by Néstor Simón Montiel-Urdaneta, José Raúl Pérez-González

    Published 2023-11-01
“…The factors evaluated were: ecological zone (EZ), farm (F), breed (B): Murrah predominance (Mu), Mediterranean predominance (Me) and undefined crossbreeding (UC), year of study (YS), number of calvings (NC), lactation duration (LD), dry days (DD) and maternal milk production (MMP). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used, using the statistical package SAS version 9, 1. …”

Projected changes in climate extremes over Tanzania by Philbert Modest Luhunga

    Published 2025-01-01
“…However, many regions in Tanzania are likely to experience an unchanged to decreasing number of consecutive dry days (CDDs). Areas along coastal regions would experience increased intensity and frequency of extreme rainfall events in the present, mid, and end centuries under the RCP4.5 emission scenario. …”

Bacterial diversity impacts as a result of combined sewer overflow in a polluted waterway by O. Calderon, H. Porter-Morgan, J. Jacob, W. Elkins

    Published 2017-12-01
“…Based on these data, it is hypothesized that differences identified in the microbiome on wet versus dry days are as a result of combined sewage overflow, street runoff, and additional fluctuations in the creek’s environment associated with rain. …”

Analysis on Spatio-temporal Change Characteristics of Extreme Precipitation in Hainan Island by ZHANG Shuqi, XIAO Jing

    Published 2024-11-01
“…The results show that: ① The spatial distribution of extreme precipitation events in Hainan Island is "more in the east and less in the west"; the eastern part has more precipitation and is more prone to rainstorms, and Jianfengling in the western part is also more likely to have short-term heavy rainfall. ② In the past 43 years, the entire island has been tending towards humidification, with short-term precipitation on the 1st and 3rd day increasing in the north and west, and decreasing in the south; consecutive wet days (CWD) increase, consecutive dry days (CDD) decreases, and the trend of rainstorms and heavy rainstorms increases in eastern, northern and western coastal areas. ③ Extreme precipitation indices PRCPTOT, Rx1day, Rx3day, and R99PTOT show an insignificant increase at rates of 45.57, 1.62, 6.08, and 2.80 mm/10a, respectively; among the extreme precipitation day indices, CDD significantly decreases at a rate of 2.07 d/10a, while CWD, R50, and R100 show an insignificant increase at 0.26, 0.22, and 0.02 d/10a, respectively; the extreme precipitation intensity index SDII show an insignificant decrease at 0.18 (mm/d)/10a. ④ In the future, CDD and SDII will continue to increase with strong persistence, and PRCPTOT, Rx1day, Rx3day, R99PTOT, CWD, R50, and R100 will continue to decrease with weak persistence. ⑤ Mutation test shows that mutations in PRCPTOT, Rx1day, Rx3day, R99PTOT, R50, and R100 occurred around 2007, the SDII mutation point appeared in 1988, and the CWD and CDD mutation points appeared around 1995 and 2010, respectively. …”

    Published 2023-11-01
“…To evaluate the environmental effects, 574 records of total milk production (MP) of the Florida and Miraflores farms were analyzed by PROC GLM, using sums of squares type III (SSIII): EZ, breed: Murrah and Mediterranean, number of calvings of the animal (NC), lactation duration (LD), dry days (DD) and maternal milk production (MMP). The factors EZ, NC, LD, DD, and MMP were significant (p<0.05). …”
