Curvature Effects on the Vibration Characteristics of Doubly Curved Shallow Shells with General Elastic Edge Restraints
Published 2015-01-01“…Boundary conditions of the shell are generally specified in terms of distributed elastic restraints along the edges. The classical homogeneous boundary supports can be easily simulated by setting the stiffnesses of restraining springs to either zero or infinite. …”

Multimodel Anomaly Identification and Control in Wet Limestone-Gypsum Flue Gas Desulphurization System
Published 2020-01-01“…Anomalies in industrial desulphurization system would induce severe consequences and pose challenges for high-performance control with classical control strategies. In this article, based on process data sampled from 1000 MW unit flue gas desulphurization system in a coal-fired power plant, a multimodel control strategy with multilayer parallel dynamic neural network (MPDNN) is utilized to address the control problem in the context of different anomalies. …”

Dynamic Performance Optimization for Cloud Computing Using M/M/m Queueing System
Published 2014-01-01“…Lastly, we set up the simulation based on the synthesis optimization mode; we also compare and analyze the simulation results to the classical optimization methods (short service time first and first in, first out method), which show that the proposed model can optimize the average wait time, average queue length, and the number of customer.…”

Homomorphic and restricted homomorphic products of softgraphs
Published 2025-01-01“…Soft set theory emerges as a flexible framework adept at handling uncertain and imprecise information, a domain where classical set theory often struggles. Expanding on the soft set concept, researchers have introduced the idea of a soft graph. …”

Yukawa Potential Orbital Energy: Its Relation to Orbital Mean Motion as well to the Graviton Mediating the Interaction in Celestial Bodies
Published 2019-01-01“…Research on gravitational theories involves several contemporary modified models that predict the existence of a non-Newtonian Yukawa-type correction to the classical gravitational potential. In this paper we consider a Yukawa potential and we calculate the time rate of change of the orbital energy as a function of the orbital mean motion for circular and elliptical orbits. …”

Practices of Protest in the Conditions of the Developing Academic Capitalism
Published 2022-09-01“…In the context of developing academic capitalism, teachers choose one of two adaptation strategies: 1) conformism as an opportunity to integrate into a constantly changing situation; 2) the practice of quiet protest as an opportunity to demonstrate the inefficiency of the entrepreneurial model of higher education, at least in its current version, and 3) neutral position to protect the classical values of the academic community.…”

From the Guest Editors
Published 2009-02-01“…Those of us who met the field of mathematical biology as a well-developed,flourishing, and rewarding discipline owe much to those who made it so.This special issue of Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering isdedicated to two such pioneers: Fred Brauer and Karl Hadeler.Since retrospectives of both men have been published in other venues [1, 2], we will only summarize their contributions briefly here.Fred Brauer obtained his Ph.D. from MIT in 1956 under Norman Levinson, and during a long tenure at the University of Wisconsin he co-wrote severaltexts on ordinary differential equations that have become classics. His research entered mathematical biology first through early studies inpredator-prey systems and harvesting, both with and without delays. He then moved into mathematical epidemiology, and the text he co-authoredwith Carlos Castillo-Chavez in both these areas earlier this decade isalready in wide use.For more information please click the “Full Text” above.…”
