Expression of CD24 in Human Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Is Regulated by TGFβ3 and Induces a Myofibroblast-Like Genotype by Luisa Marilena Schäck, Manuela Buettner, Alexander Wirth, Claudia Neunaber, Christian Krettek, Andrea Hoffmann, Sandra Noack

    Published 2016-01-01
“…To our knowledge, we demonstrate for the first time that the expression of CD24 is an inherent property of hBMSCs. Importantly, the data links the upregulation of CD24 to the adoption of a myofibroblast-like gene expression pattern in hBMSCs. …”

A novel conditional active biologic anti-EpCAM x anti-CD3 bispecific antibody with synergistic tumor selectivity for cancer immunotherapy by Gerhard Frey, Ana Paula G. Cugnetti, Haizhen Liu, Charles Xing, Christina Wheeler, Hwai Wen Chang, William J. Boyle, Jay M. Short

    Published 2024-12-01
“…We developed novel, conditionally active biological (CAB) bispecific antibodies that bind to both EpCAM and CD3 in an acidic tumor microenvironment. In healthy tissues, binding to EpCAM and CD3 is greatly reduced by a novel, dual CAB selection, where each binding domain is independently blocked by the presence of physiological chemicals known as Protein-associated Chemical Switches (PaCS). …”

Third-Generation Anti-CD47-Specific CAR-T Cells Effectively Kill Cancer Cells and Reduce the Genes Expression in Lung Cancer Cell Metastasis by Huyen Thi La, Dao Bich Thi Tran, Hai Manh Tran, Linh Trong Nguyen

    Published 2021-01-01
“…This study designed the chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) to bind to the CD47 to inhibit the expression of CD47. We used the complementarity-determining regions (CDRs) of the B6H12 mouse antibody grafted onto the IgG1 framework to create the humanized single-chain variable fragment (scFv) with linker (G4S)x3. scFv was used to design the chimeric antigen receptor with the structure CD8signal-CD47scFv-CD8a hinge-CD4TM-CD28-41BB-CD3ζ, which was then transformed into T lymphocytes by the lentivirus to create third generation of CAR-T. …”

Significance of Glioma Stem-Like Cells in the Tumor Periphery That Express High Levels of CD44 in Tumor Invasion, Early Progression, and Poor Prognosis in Glioblastoma by Masahiro Nishikawa, Akihiro Inoue, Takanori Ohnishi, Shohei Kohno, Shiro Ohue, Shirabe Matsumoto, Satoshi Suehiro, Daisuke Yamashita, Saya Ozaki, Hideaki Watanabe, Hajime Yano, Hisaaki Takahashi, Riko Kitazawa, Junya Tanaka, Takeharu Kunieda

    Published 2018-01-01
“…Cultured GSCs obtained from the tumor periphery were highly invasive and have enhanced migration phenotype, both of which were markedly inhibited by CD44 knockdown. Higher expression of CD44 in the tumor periphery than in the core was correlated with a highly invasive feature on MRI and was associated with early tumor progression and worse survival, whereas lower expression of CD44 in the tumor periphery corresponded to low invasion and was associated with longer survival. …”
