The territorial dimension of transactions in the Canary Islands’ grape market
Published 2022-09-01“… The territorial dimension of transactions between grape growers and wine producers in the Canary Islands’ grape market is examined. This is a market fragmented into different wine-grape zones and institutionally organised through protected designations of origin (PDOs) which, except in the case of one that is regional in scope, restrict the spatial mobility of grapes. …”

Impact of tire particle leachates on microplankton communities in the Canary Islands
Published 2025-02-01“…In this study, we assessed the acute impacts of tire particle leachates on the structure of coastal microplankton assemblages from the Canary Islands. Five laboratory experiments were conducted, exposing microplankton to a range of leachate dilutions over 72 h, with TWP leachates prepared from an initial concentration of 1 g L⁻¹ .Our results revealed that the abundances of diatoms, most dinoflagellates, and ciliates were significantly reduced following exposure to leachates, with median effective concentrations (EC50) ranging from 30 to 660 mg L−1 depending on the plankton community. …”

Heat and Helium-3 Fluxes from Teide Volcano, Canary Islands, Spain
Published 2019-01-01“…During July 2016, the first integrated heat flow, CO2, and 3He emission survey was conducted across 0.5 km2 of the summit cone and crater of Teide volcano, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. The thermal energy released from Teide summit cone by diffuse degassing was 2.2 MW, and the heat flux calculated through Dawson’s method was 8.1 MW, difference due to the comparison of purely convective areas as the crater with diffusive areas as the flanks of the volcano. …”

El Hierro (Canaries) : une île et le choix des transitions énergétique et écologique
Published 2014-12-01“…The island of El Hierro (270 km2 and 8,000 inhabitants) is the most isolated in the Canary archipelago. Since June 2014, El Hierro is getting on its way toward the objective of being self-sustained with 100 % of renewable energy thanks to wind turbines mixed with a wind-powered pumped hydrostorage system using desalinated water that ensures two days of autonomy in the absence of wind or during storms. …”

Temporal variations of metals and trace elements in tuna spines from the canary islands from 1990s to 2000s
Published 2025-02-01“…In the present study, 12 trace elements and metals (Al, B, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Li, Mo, Ni, Pb, Zn) were analyzed in dorsal fin spines samples of four tuna species: Katsuwonus pelamis, Thunnus albacares, Thunnus obesus and Thunnus thynnus from individuals captured in the surrounding waters of the Canary Islands, between 1990 and 2007. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics and one-way and two-way PERMANOVAs were carried out, with species factor and decade-species as factors, respectively. …”
