TEACHING PRACTICAL RESEARCH FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL; AN IN-DEPTH STUDY by Marlyn D. Lucas, Hernando L. Bernal Jr, Mark P. Lucas

    Published 2021-05-01
“…On the other hand, key areas which are least useful are: ‘clash of ideas and unequal effort’ among the members; ‘time consuming for some of the written works’; and ‘no review of related literature’ during the library hopping. Suggestions given where: to choose your own group mates of which each member should have the same field of interest, to remove worksheets not needed in the research paper; and to check online regarding availability of literature in the library. …”

Algorithm and Architecture Optimization for 2D Discrete Fourier Transforms with Simultaneous Edge Artifact Removal by Faisal Mahmood, Märt Toots, Lars-Göran Öfverstedt, Ulf Skoglund

    Published 2018-01-01
“…We use a periodic plus smooth decomposition-based approach that was optimized to reduce DRAM access and to decrease 1D FFT invocations. 2D FFTs on FPGAs also suffer from the so-called “intermediate storage” or “memory wall” problem, which is due to limited on-chip memory, increasingly large image sizes, and strided column-wise external memory access. We propose a “tile-hopping” memory mapping scheme that significantly improves the bandwidth of the external memory for column-wise reads and can reduce the energy consumption up to 53%. …”

Assessment and Determination of Bittering Agents, Essential Oils, and Antioxidants of Gesho (Rhamnus prinoides L. Herit) Collected from Amhara Region, Ethiopia by Abebe Worku Negash, Belay Tilahun Tadesse, Berhanu Andualem Tsehai

    Published 2021-01-01
“…So R. prinoides can be used as a substitute for commercial hops used in the breweries, and promotion should be done to introduce the potential of Gesho as a bittering agent, source of aroma and flavor, and also antioxidant for beer and other alcoholic beverages.…”

Stiffness characteristics of the lower extremities in Women’s Chinese Basketball Association competition athletes: normative values and position differences by Dan Wang, Zhihai Wang, Mingming Yang, Kaiyuan Qu, Xinyu Mao, Xin Yang, Zhiye Zhang, Che Shao, Eamonn Delahunt, Eamonn Delahunt, Wenxuan Fang

    Published 2025-02-01
“…The Kruskal Wallis test and post hoc Bonferroni pairwise comparisons found significant higher stiffness of the left patellar tendon (PT) in guards than centres (p = 0.004) and in guards than forwards (p = 0.012), right PT stiffness in guards than centres (p = 0.016) and in guards than forwards (p = 0.017), mean PT stiffness in guards than centres (p = 0.003) and in guards than forwards (p = 0.008); stiffness of the right soleus (SOL) in guards than forwards (p = 0.033), stiffness of the left biceps femoris (BF) in forwards than centres (p = 0.049) and in guards than centres (p = 0.038); and stiffness of the left vertical stiffness (hopping) in forwards than centres (p = 0.041).ConclusionForwards, centres and guards were characterised by significantly different stiffness values, which could be utilised for improvement of athletic performance and injury prevention.…”
