Failure Mechanism and Stability Control of Surrounding Rock of Docking Roadway under Multiple Dynamic Pressures in Extrathick Coal Seam by Xiangye Wu, Shuai Wang, Chen Tian, Changxing Ji, Jingya Wang

    Published 2020-01-01
“…The results show that (1) through the analysis of the superimposed stress under the concentrated coal pillar and the coal seam in advance, the specific butt joint position is arranged at 860 m away from the open-off cut, which is 10 m away from the goaf of No. 12 coal seam. (2) With the working face 031604 advancing through the process, the deviatoric stress value of the withdrawal roadway gradually increases, the maximum principal stress of the two sides of the roadway deflects clockwise from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction, its angle also gradually increases, and the shape of the plastic zone gradually expands from symmetry to asymmetry. (3) It is revealed that the peak value of deviatoric stress on both sides of the docking position of docking roadway increases gradually under the influence of mining and deflects anticlockwise to the vertical direction with the principal stress angle. …”

Understanding the Effects of Selected Backpack Loads Carried for Certain Durations on Peak Forces of Walking Gait in School-Going Boys by Rabiya Husain, Dessalegn Wase Mola, Dhananjoy Shaw

    Published 2024-12-01
“…The study concluded that higher backpack loads significantly increased the mean of peak forces in walking gait, which may result in postural imbalances and gait asymmetry. These findings suggest a need for regulating backpack loads to prevent potential musculoskeletal issues in children.…”

Asymptomatic female softball pitchers have altered hip morphology and cartilage composition by Stuart J. Warden, Sally L. Coburn, Robyn K. Fuchs, Rachel K. Surowiec, Julio Carballido-Gamio, Joanne L. Kemp, Peter K. Jalaie, David F. Hanff, Antony J. R. Palmer, Scott J. Fernquest, Kay M. Crossley, Joshua J. Heerey

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Asymptomatic softball pitchers exhibit altered bony hip morphology and cartilage composition compared to cross-country runners and non-athletic controls, respectively. They also exhibit asymmetry in cartilage composition. Further studies with larger sample sizes are warranted and any potential long-term consequences of the changes in terms of symptom and osteoarthritis development requires investigation.…”

Driver lines for studying associative learning in Drosophila by Yichun Shuai, Megan Sammons, Gabriella R Sterne, Karen L Hibbard, He Yang, Ching-Po Yang, Claire Managan, Igor Siwanowicz, Tzumin Lee, Gerald M Rubin, Glenn C Turner, Yoshinori Aso

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Leveraging the thousands of confocal microscopy images associated with the collection, we analyzed neuronal morphological stereotypy and discovered that one set of mushroom body output neurons, MBON08/MBON09, exhibits striking individuality and asymmetry across animals. In conjunction with the EM connectome maps, the driver lines reported here offer a powerful resource for functional dissection of neural circuits for associative learning in adult Drosophila.…”

    Published 2025-01-01
“…In contrast, errors for the radius of gale-force wind (R17) and asymmetry are comparatively smaller. Initial size errors significantly influence subsequent size predictions: Larger initial vortex size errors require longer spin-up times for adjustment and are often associated with larger forecast errors in later stages. …”
