Rabbits, Rabbits, Rabbits: Show Rabbit Record Book
Published 2020-04-01“…Records help youth keep track of vital information that can later help them make the best decisions regarding their animals. By tracking inventory, financial records associated with their project, rabbit health and growth details, industry-specific information such as wool/meat/kit yield, as well as pedigree/breeding and identification methods and dates, youth will be well prepared to relate their experiences in a written narrative as part of their project completion activities. …”

Relationship between Prolactin Plasma Levels and White Matter Volume in Women with Multiple Sclerosis
Published 2015-01-01“…Our data of a positive association between PRL serum levels and WMV support the role of PRL in promoting myelin repair as documented in animal models of demyelination. The lack of an increase of PRL in the presence of gadolinium enhancement, contrasts with the view considering this hormone as an immune-stimulating and detrimental factor in the inflammatory process associated with MS.…”

Apaf-1 is an evolutionarily conserved DNA sensor that switches the cell fate between apoptosis and inflammation
Published 2025-01-01“…Although Apaf-1 structurally resembles animal NOD-like receptor (NLR) and plant resistance (R) proteins, whether it is directly involved in innate immunity is still largely unknown. …”

Anti-Tumor Effects of Vespa bicolor Venom on Liver Cancer: In Vitro and In Vivo Studies
Published 2024-12-01“…In vitro experiments evaluated VBV and its combination with DDP on HepG2 cell proliferation, invasion, migration, and apoptosis. Animal studies examined the tumor-suppressive effects, safety (hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity), and immune impact of these treatments in tumor-bearing mice. …”

Stability and neurotoxic impact of organophosphate pesticides in aqueous environments
Published 2025-01-01“…Their acute toxicity is ascribed to inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE), a key enzyme in the transmission of nerve impulses in animals. Their toxic effects manifest by acetylcholine accumulation in the nerve synapses and can lead to paralysis or death. …”

Evaluation of the Association Metformin: Plantago ovata Husk in Diabetic Rabbits
Published 2015-01-01“…Insulin pharmacokinetics parameters after treatment with oral metformin showed an important increase in Cmax, AUC, and tmax in animals fed with fiber. We conclude that Plantago ovata husk intake can contribute to the oral antihyperglycemic treatment of type 2 diabetes.…”

Developing an On‐Resin Synthesis of α‐Galactosylceramide‐Peptide Conjugate Vaccines
Published 2025-01-01“…Abstract The covalent attachment of peptide antigens to the NKT cell agonist, α‐galactosylceramide (αGalCer), generates self‐adjuvanting vaccines that prevent and/or eliminate disease in animal models of cancer and infectious disease. To date, the manufacture of these glycolipid‐peptide (GLP) conjugate vaccines utilises an automated solid‐phase process to produce the peptide followed by a manual ‘wet chemistry’ conjugation step. …”

Fluid flow impacts endothelial-monocyte interactions in a model of vascular inflammatory fibrosis
Published 2025-01-01“…Studying this dysregulated tendon repair response in human pathophysiology has been historically challenging due to the reliance on animal models. To address this, our group developed the human tendon-on-a-chip (hToC) to model cellular interactions in the injured tendon microenvironment; however, this model lacked the key element of physiological flow in the vascular compartment. …”

Pathology Survey on a Captive-Bred Colony of the Mexican Goodeid, Nearly Extinct in the Wild, Zoogoneticus tequila (Webb & Miller 1998)
Published 2013-01-01“…Encountered diseases included the following: 7 cases of scoliosis (2 males and 5 females); 2 fish with a similar congenital deviation of ocular axis; 1 adult male with left corneal opacity, presumably of traumatic origin; 1 female fish with a large subocular fluid-filled sac, histologically referable to a lymphatic cyst, similarly to the eye sacs of a Goldfish variety (Carassius auratus) called bubble eye; and 1 female fish with recurrent abdominal distension consequent to distal bowel dilation and thinning, associated with complete mucosal atrophy, and comparable to intestinal pseudo-obstruction syndromes described in humans and various animal species. The absence of infectious or parasitic diseases, as well as the low incidence of diseases potentially related to environmental alterations or nutritional disorders such as spinal deformities, suggests the adequacy of breeding management techniques of Z. tequila for its conservation and reintroduction in to the original habitat in the near future.…”
