Evidence of Terrain-Induced Windshear Due to Lantau Island over the Third Runway of the Hong Kong International Airport—Examples and Numerical Simulations
Published 2024-12-01“…It is found that, though 07LA is located at least 4 km from the foothills of Lantau Island, which has peaks rising to about 1 km above mean sea level, the terrain-induced airflow disturbances could, at times, extend to 7–8 km away from the mountains to bring about low-level windshear and turbulence to this runway corridor. …”

Performance of subsurface drainage systems considering groundwater flow directions and network alignment
Published 2025-01-01“…The groundwater levels reached 5.63, 5.33, and 5.51 m above mean sea level for the three orientations, respectively, at the baseline case. …”

Controls on coastal saline groundwater across North America
Published 2025-01-01“…The simulation results suggest that under a steady climate and pre-development conditions (i.e. steady 30-year mean groundwater recharge, no withdrawals nor sea level rise) saline groundwater is present in 18.6% of North America’s coastal zone, defined as up to 100 km inland and up to 100 m above mean sea level. We find that the coastal zone is particularly vulnerable to containing saline groundwater at low hydraulic gradients (<10 ^−4 ) and large hydraulic conductivities (>10 ^−2 m d ^−1 ). …”
