Description
Summary:This study addresses the contextual aspects of the drop-out phenomenon in higher education in Guadeloupe, by relating it to the large proportion of the professional high school graduate in this region. Conducting life history interviews with students who have abandoned the BTS deputy manager during the first year of training, allows us to better understand the tensions that shaped on their decision. These students face constraints when it comes to their orientation since the local map of higher education does not allow them to meet their training needs and their professional aspirations. Thus, socio-economic and territorial characteristics constitute in Guadeloupe major determinants for the integration of profesionnal graduate in higher education.
