| Summary: | A producing strain with yellow pigment was isolated from soil and was identified as Rhodococcus sp.. The pigment is considered to be carotenoid. In present work, the influence of pH value, inoculum size, fermenting cycle, different mediums and different kinds of C and N sources on the pigment forming was studied. It was found that the pigment yield would be the highest when the strains were cultured in potato sucrose medium or hydrolytic sugar medium of pH 6.3, and its inoculum size was 8%. The biomass can reach up to 13.6 g/L and the carotenoid yield to 1.5 g/L under the best fermentation conditions. |
