| Summary: | This text offers a close look to the dynamics of classification and exhibition of the ethnographic collections of the Ethnological Museum of Berlin from the end of the 19th Century to the first half of the 20th Century. Even before the instauration of this museum, the ethnographic objects that will become part of its collections will be subject to constant movements. Different events have extended the duration of these dynamics through time. As it will be shown with some examples of the American collections, it is the interaction between the theoretical propositions and the economic, social and politic circumstances that determined the order and the reorganization of the Berliner ethnographic collections. |
