Description
Summary:Abstract. Trogossitidae is one of the least-known beetle families in Brazil. In 2015, the first checklist dedicated to the family’s diversity in the country was published, recording 87 species. Subsequent revisions in the family-level taxonomy of Cleroidea, along with a detailed reanalysis of the literature that revealed several errors in the original list, indicate the need for extensive modifications. Here, we address these issues and conclude that while 20 species must be removed from the list of Brazilian Trogossitidae, another 18 must be added, bringing the actual number of species recorded in the country to 85. Yet, much remains to be explored about these beetles, and this number will certainly increase as the taxonomy of the family is more thoroughly examined in South America.
