Summary:Evaluation of learning is a fundamental link in the teaching learning process. The aim of this work is to perform a critical analysis of the usage of an evaluation based mainly in the clinical examination objectively structured as a form of final evaluation in the subject Internal Medicine after 9 years of its insertion. The historical analysis showed that the application of this type of exam constituted a big step forward in the improvement of the evaluation system of the intern. Important deficiencies that limited the complete fulfillment of the evaluation functions as well as some element that interfere in the feasibility of its application were identified.
