Summary: | The study presents aspects of the use of the principles of electronic warfare
(EW) in the art of warfare. The material contains conclusions and observations on the
use of individual EW principles based on the theory and practice of their use on the
basis of historically developed conclusions and operating properties of EW systems
after the armed conflicts of the late 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
The outlined research area has become a canvas for reflection. and observations of the
practical application of EW principles in the art of war. The efficiency of the EW system
determines how and when, and what rules apply at stages of the fight. The application
of the oldest principles, such as stealth, seems obvious due to the nature of operation of
some EW systems, others, such as advantage or surprise, are less obvious and not
perceived in the same way by all military experts. Historical experience clearly shows
that all of them should be used, and advantage and surprise should be obtained in
cooperation with other types of troops. The aim of this study is to indicate the
importance of EW principles in contemporary warfare. The analyses were based on
conclusions from past armed conflicts and, through a selective analysis of events,
referred to the previous fighting in Ukraine, pointing to the importance of the EW
principles during military operations, and at the same time to the problem of the
impact of modern technology and techniques on the development of principles in
future armed conflicts. The conclusions clearly indicate the evolution of the rules in
every armed conflict. |
