Description
Summary:From the post-war years to nowadays, the French livestock farming system has evolved in two apparently contradictory directions : a process of techno-scientific rationalisation on the one hand, and a movement of transformation of animal races, pastoral landscapes and livestock products into heritage on the other hand. This evolution, strongly challenged by societal mutations regarding animal issues, has confronted the French Law with the necessity of according antagonistic normative dynamics. This paper aims at highlighting this complex historical process.
