| Summary: | The Communication highlights the challenges of an ageing society and the health problems this poses. According to Eurostat data, the proportion of elderly individuals has significantly increased in both the EU and Hungary over last few decades. Geriatric cardiology is gaining prominence, as the complex care of aging patients presents growing challenges in clinical practice. The biological process of aging, cellular senescence, plays a central role in the development of chronic diseases, particularly cardiovascular issues. The concepts of early vascular aging (EVA) and "youthful" vascular system (SUPERNOVA) highlight the importance of health preservation and prevention. Lifestyle changes, medication, and preventive cardiology can significantly reduce the risk of age-related diseases, contributing to healthier and longer lives. |
