description For the present investigation, the state of the object of knowledge is investigated based on the results obtained in recent studies, such as the application of music therapy techniques and the design of intervention strategies, focused on stimulating and enhancing the residual capacities of Alzheimer's patients, which helps to significantly reduce symptoms during and after therapy. Another study clarified the impact of implementing an intervention program on cognitive, affective, and independence areas, revealing that the capacity for independence is proportional to the degree of physical and neuropsychological functioning of older adults. In a quasi-experimental, prospective, and longitudinal community intervention study, the objective of which was to improve coordination, functionality, mobility, balance, and overall psychomotor skills in older adults through an intervention program using music therapy, the study concluded that there was an improvement in self-esteem, self-perception, and the sense of belonging to a peer group, and a decrease in feelings of rejection. These studies contributed to the objective of this research, which was to generate a theoretical approach to music as a strategy for mediating cognitive processes in older adults. In every field, music can produce changes in human beings. It can be affirmed that this is where the therapeutic value of music lies, and that the main effects on the individual are centered on three fundamental areas: physiological, psychological, and intellectual. When integrated and worked from these perspectives, one can speak of a significant social impact. This study is a significant contribution to the care of older adults, particularly for teachers and therapists at the senior care center, the setting for this research.
