Summary:In general, the criticism on which non-sexist / inclusive language guides are based concerns masculine nouns with generic value. Is this generic function embedded in the grammar, discursively negotiated or the result of an inferential calculation? A whole series of (meta)strategies have been proposed to avoid generically intended masculine forms. If all these strategies have the same objective, it can also be observed that there is no single one that is universally accepted.
