description Problems in drinking water network lines can affect water quality. For this reason, the water of appropriate quality obtained at the outlet of the treatment plant may reach unacceptable levels at the end point. Disinfection methods are applied to prevent waterborne microbial contamination. While disinfection with chlorine prevents microbial contamination, it may cause various problems by interacting with pollutants in the water. Turbidity, color, total dissolved solids, free and total chlorine analyses were performed by taking water samples on the same day in March and June from randomly selected houses, mosques, food establishments, and industrial establishments from 20 different neighborhoods within the service area of Bartın province. The turbidity value was found to be higher than 1 NTU, which is the limit value of "TS 266" and the "Regulation on Water Intended for Human Consumption" at 17 points. When the color parameters were examined, the highest color was found in Cumhuriyet Neighborhood with a value of 17 PtCo. In 8 neighborhoods, the amount of free chlorine is lower than the regulatory limit value of 0.2 mg/L. In addition, in 4 neighborhoods, free chlorine amounts were determined in the range of 2.8 - 3.48 mg/L. When the results are analyzed, there are significant differences between the measurement parameters at different points in the same water distribution network. The reason for this is thought to be the defects in the network lines. Instead of repairing and renewing the network lines, it is recommended to increase the amount of chlorination to protect public health.
