Description
Summary:The continuous development of land salinization poses a serious threat to agricultural production globally. Bast fiber crops are considered pioneer crops for the development and utilization of saline-alkali land due to their generally strong resistance. In recent years, significant achievements have been achieved in the study of the salt-alkali tolerance mechanisms and related technologies of bast fiber crops. However, there is a lack of systematic integration and analysis. In this paper, we have sorted out the theoretical basis of saline – alkaline land use in terms of water – salt transport, crop adaptation, cultivation regulation, etc. We have also summarized the main scientific and technological achievements and comprehensive management technology of saline and alkaline land in China from the aspects of variety selection and breeding, regional salt and soil improvement technology, farming model innovation, etc. The current status of saline and alkaline tolerance mechanism and technology development of major bast fiber crops were analyzed, such as jute, kenaf, flax, hemp and so on. Advices were given for further researches.
