Summary:current study aimed at exploring the effectiveness of an electronictraining program for increasing the awareness of students of the Department ofInformation Science at Umm Al Qura University. The training program wasdesigned using the Desire to Learn (D2L) Learning Management System (LMS)used at Umm Al Qura University. The training program included two trainingmodules, namely; (plagiarism), and (citations).To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the one-groupexperimental approach to the students of a special Topic. The sample consistedof (25) students. The tools used for conducting the research were, the cognitivetest, the practical performance observation card, and directional scale.The results showed that there were statistically significant differences at(0.01) between the mean scores of the students in all three tools. The pre/postmeasurement of the cognitive test, as well as the practical performanceobservation card, and the directional scale in favor of the post measure. Inaddition, achieving more than 1.2 points of the effectiveness rate according toBlack equation.The program also proved its effectiveness in raising awareness amongthe students of the Department of Information Science at Umm Al-QuraUniversity. In conclusion, the researcher suggests a set of recommendationswhich may contribute to the awareness of students about plagiarism and how toavoid it
