description From a model historically rooted in practice and professional experience (Rémy et al., 2010), the training of CPE has evolved towards that of professionalization (Wittorski, 2008), within the framework of the universalization of training. Recent reforms have strengthened the professionalizing dimension, by backing it up with the ambition of an integrative alternation. Based on a qualitative approach, this paper proposes a socio-political analysis of the evolution of CPE training by focusing on the logic, processes and values underlying the successive models. It reveals the recompositions of training in the face of the challenges of a new mode of management of the public service, introducing another form of governance of the educational system (Bouvier, 2012) and contributes to the identification of the tensions inherent in the dynamics of professionalization of beginning CPE.
