Description
Summary:Abstract: Between 1925 and 1928, the Chilean poet, teacher, and intellectual Gabriela Mistral (1889- 1957) published three essays on feminism and the women’s movement in the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio. These are part of the vast prose writing that Mistral published throughout her career, much of which has not been translated to English. The translations of these three pieces aim to make the views of Mistral on feminism, labor, class, and political rights available to English-speaking audiences, while incorporating her voice in these broader debates from a transnational perspective. None of these essays have been translated to English before.
