| Summary: | Ureteral duplication is a congenital abnormality described as two ureters in the isolateral urinary system. Ectopic ureter is an ureter with abnormal positioning which frequently has an orifice outside the bladder triangle in duplicated ureteral malformations. Clinical problems of this association are the result of vesicoureteral reflux and obstruction, giving rise to infection, incontinence and hydronephrosis. We report a rare case of unilateral duplicated ectopic ureter with vaginal insertion in a 60-year-old woman presenting with recurrent urinary tract infection. Duplicated system with ectopic ureter is a rare entity. Before undergoing surgical management, a good imaging study is required to determine the type of urethral duplication and to provide a good anatomical image. |
