Summary:During the 1930's, the Great Depression, the frequent droughts, the dust storms, the erosion weak the farmers in the Great Plains. More than two millions leave their country to California. Alexandre HOGUE has painted this social, economic and climatic phenomenon in a series of paintings called "Erosion": they focus on the droughts landscape during the 30's. This paper put into perspective the dust bowl in view of these paintings which have leaved little traces in the francophone literature.
