| Summary: | This study aims at: identifying hazards of storing information resources inlibraries and information centers which affect occupational safety and health,evaluating the procedures to overcome and prevent them and planning thecorrect procedures, with the aim of increasing librarians' knowledge about thesehazards and the scientific manners for detecting and preventing them, whetherindividual or in groups.The study followed "The Case Study Method", depending on "A ChickList" which applied in the new central library of Cairo University as a model ofArabian libraries.The main findings of this research: there were several hazards in storageprocedures of information resources, which badly effect on occupational safetyand health, caused by: occupational safety and health administration,construction hazards, physical hazards, biological hazards, fire hazards, storageprocedures hazards and individual hazards. Hence the study recommended anumber of scientific manners for detecting and preventing these hazards, moreover librarians should put and unify written standards and laws to protect libraryemployee and its surrounding environment from all hazards |
